question about ringworm My mom got a yorkie about 2mths ago and when she got him he had ringworm. We she has been taking him into the vet just about everyweek or every other since she got him and he has now had about 4-5 limedips to cure the ringworm. Its a shampoo they bathe him in that stinks like rotten eggs. Well they said that the last one would mostly be the last one he would have to do but when they did the scraping to see if it was gone it came back inconclusive. So now they want to do another scraping for free and if it hasnt been cured they want to do another bath. I know that this is hard to get rid of but has anyone had any other experiences with medications that have worked?? |
usually the vet will do a culture and determine what strain it is...has your mom bleached and vaccumed constantly? You must the fungus lives most everywhere including your air filters... Griseofulvin is the drug and is in rendered form, it will clear up quickly but must be given daily for about 6-8 weeks and its not cheap medication be prepared. hope this helps |
Ringworm My sister has pitbulls and one of her female pitbull and her litter had it pretty bad from what she said and she called her vet and he recommend something that was over-the-counter that worked real well and I can't remember what she said it was, but I will try to contact her and find out. :) |
lamisil I bet and let me tell you it doesnt work on the stubborn strains none of the over the counter drugs or topicals work. Your moms pup obviously has a stubborn strain for it not to react to the baths and the topicals! |

Tinactine was what my sister was told by her vet. And it cured the ringworm for her and she has had no more outbreaks. Now this product is used for athlete's feet and comes in spray or cream. |
