There is HAIR EVERYWHERE!!! 1 Attachment(s) I didn't realize how much my dogs DON'T shed until now. I'm babysitting a cavalier king charles spaniel. Sophia is liver and white. She's only been here since 7:15 this morning and there's already a nice layer of white hair all over my maroon rugs. She's a sweet baby, but YUK!!! I take for granted that Otis and Ollie are fairly non shedding! I'll be doing a lot more vacumming over the next 5 days!! Thank God for non-shedding dogs!! Here is Sophia! |
I hear ya. Ivan (our german shepherd) has a double coat and makes up for all three of the other dogs. |
She is gorgeous but I know what you mean about the shedding. :) |
Wow cute dog, I think I have enough with cats hair lol :p |
hhehe i don't know what i would do if i had a shedding dog...that is why i love my yorkie and my maltese...hehe...a great plus for someone with bad allergies like myself! |
I know exactly what you mean The non-shedding breeds are sooo much easier, plus they don't get that strong "dog smell" the shedding ones with undercoats get. We had a lab for years and years until he died of old age, and every time he was brushed we'd get enough hair to have made a whole extra dog. We have Persian cats as well as Yorkies, and the cats definitely shed enough to make up for the fact that the dogs don't. ;) |
I had a bulldog for a long time, he shedded and stunk so bad! The whole house smelled. I'm thankful for my small non stinky dogs |
If it's excess shedding it could be from a lack of Omega fatty acids. Dogs who eat only dog food do seem to shed in excess. A really good brushing twice a day would really help this baby too. |
Thanks, I'll pass that along to her momma! |
My daughter has a siberian husky...I had shedding dogs in the past but nothing compares to a husky in it's blow out phase. Good grief it looks like you started to sheer a sheep and stopped part way thru. Plus she sheds all the time too. But that blow out phase is the worst. Thank goodness it only happens twice a year. BIG YUCK!! |
I have a chi/spitz mix... she is like 4 dogs in one! She sheds SOOOO bad this time of year, I call her my "tumbleweed" pup. It is a good thing she is only a small dog... She sheds worse than my lab and that is bad enough... I have always loved the cavaliers but heard they are shedders.... sophia is so cute! d |

1 Attachment(s) I do have a german shepherd and a yorkie for the first time . My Karma takes care of Wiz like one of her own she never had ...except when she has her ball or a treat she wants . If you love pets , dogs or cats , then you accept the hair with a smile and a good vacuum ...and I do . One they are gone from your life , you even tend to miss all that hair . |
My mum has two king charles spaniels and they love to curl up on laps. When i get up to leave I have to remove ten ton of white hair from my jumper or trousers. She also has a golden retriever who sheds alot too. He is thirteen now and seems to be getting smellier with age:rolleyes:He's the most loving dog ever though so we let him off! xxx |
I have a Jack Russell and was always telling people that she does'nt shed!...Well, a few weeks ago I decided to shampoo my carpets..so I borrowed a friends carpet cleaner..after I was done I cleaned it all up and sent it back to my friend...Her husband called and wanted to know if I wanted my other dog back..!!..????...:D LOL He had turned the cleaner over and pulled a ball of white hair out...He said it looked like awhole another dog!...Said he could have his wife knit me a fur coat!!..So, I guess my darling Jack (Lisa) does shed...:( |
We had a pom for 13 years and I swear if you looked at him hard the hair would shed. And he did stink and have to have a bath quite often. I have to bathe Baxter because he is dirty, not because he smells. The non-shedding is a blessing. |
Ugh, I hear ya! We had a toy poodle before Tatum so I am used to the non-shedding kind of dog but my sister has three indoor dogs (one is a Great Dane) that shed like crazy. When we visit, it seems like every time you leave the house, the last thing you do is run a sticky roller over you to get off all the hair. She's got those things all over the place - in her car, her office, the table by the door! I couldn't stand it, sorry. |
I grew up with poms.. AND yes they shed like crazy . It was my job to always brush them. Brushing did help bring down the shedding. :aimeeyork I love my little Yorkie... Itis great they do not have this problem. However, they can get matted easily. |
This is a great post! I'm actually making notes right now on what breeds I might not like to own in the future. Right now, I'm a reluctant cat lady, but someday I hope to have dogs only. My cats were such cute babies and they needed a home, so now I have four. I love all four of my kitties, but the hair and litter boxes are a big PItA. My Rottweiler sheds quite a bit, but his hair is very "heavy" and falls straight to the floor(tile and hardwood only) so it's very easy to sweep up. Every time I sweep up cat hair most of it flies up in the air. Don't you just hate it when complete stangers at the store ask, "You have a cat, don't you?":embarasse |
I just lost my cat of 15 years and believe me I wish I could say that . |
I have a maltese and a yorkie. I strategically chose these breeds for companionship, personality and most of all the hypo-allergenic, non shedding appeal. My two boys have tested positive to cat allergies, so I just assumed that they may also have allergies to dogs. And I have to say! Even when my Malt, Ollie blew his puppy coat, we have no hair around our house. My two sweetum's just do not leave a hair trail. When I brush them, some will be in the brush. But not too much! These breeds are great!!! Peace and Love, |
Awwww, so sorry you lost your kitty. I love all animals, and I grew up with a cat cause my parents wouldn't let me have a dog. I never noticed the hair when I had her. I always thought my boys did shed, but I'm realizing how low shedding they are, having Sophia here. I love her and she's a very smart girl, and she HATES the vacuum!! The boys enjoy when we babysit her, she will always be welcome here! |
Aww she is a pretty blenheim - I thought about a tri-colored Cavalier before Teddy, but I know what you mean about the shedding! |
