Can someone please urgently help me with a pet carrier
 
I need a carrier that is 16x17x10. This is for a flight and if it's something I'm going to have to order, I need to do it pretty immediately. All my carriers are too big, and I'm exhausted over trying to get Jasmine's surgery sorted out. A Google search comes up with about a million hits for airline approved pet carriers, and none of the links I've clicked so far even have what I'm looking for.

Don't even get me started. I was ready to scream at somebody today. They asked what the animal was and I said a Yorkshire Terrier and she said a dog or a cat. I was so freaking tempted to say, "A Yorkshire Terrier cat. Don't you get a lot of those?"

I don't know why so small, except that's what they say. Between the flight, the hotel, the car, and the surgery schedule, this has been a nightmare. Now I need a pet carrier nobody has ever heard of. The airline doesn't rent them, and doesn't know where you can get them, but that's what you have to get.

go to Welcome To Pet Flys - Trendy, Edgy, Airline approved pet carriers for traveling in style, comfort and safety on board a plane, train, automobile or just hanging out with you. Their mini and small/regular carriers are airline approved. I have an almost 8lber that fits fine in the small/regular. They aren't cheap but they are really nice carriers

Hello,

I was told the same thing when we took Jeanie on a flight, and we did get a small carrier, but not as small as they suggested. As long as it fits under the seat in front of you, it's fine. It has to have a bottom that is leak proof also. We got a black one, I wish I could tell you the brand, but can't see it on it. We found the smallest we could find that she could comfortably sit in, that closed up completely, and that would fit under the seat. And they allowed it no problem. And it was not as small as the measurements they had given me, which sounds like the same ones you just mentioned.

Pet Flys carriers are kindof in between...they aren't super soft but they aren't hard like a kennel would be

Ya, exactly - they have to be able to go under a seat. So not hard, not the fancy ones that we carry them around in (purses)......but in between :)

I was successful with the one I had, and it wasn't that expensive either. But be darned if there was such a thing as one as small as they describe!

Does anyone know if something like this Welcome To Pet Fly's - Trendy, Edgy, Airline approved pet carriers for traveling in style, comfort and safety on board a plane, train, automobile or just hanging out with you. will work? I've been hours upon hours on the phone trying to schedule all this, and I can't get to the airport and have them tell me that my carrier isn't acceptable. I can't get much sense out of US Air because I get transferred to India every time I call them. It seems to me that pressing one for English should get you some English. If I have to order something, I have to do it very soon.

yes..those are the carriers I recommended in my posts above. The mini and small/regular sizes are approved for all airlines.

Pet Flys is what I use when I fly. They are airline approved and so darn cute too. Check out their website. Im local to the owner, about 5 blocks away from where I live. Check her stuff out :)

And sorry for not mentioning it in my last post, but yours was the reason I looked at the site to begin with. I was wondering about the specific carrier.

It looks a bit like a purse, which is fine, but I can't figure out whether it meets the requirements. They have to be ventilated on at least two sides, and no part of the animal can protrude from the carrier. The site doesn't give a view of every side of the carrier. Will that one work?

I'm sorry to worry over this so much. You wouldn't believe what I've had to go through to finally get Jasmine's surgery set up. If I were to get to the gate and have somebody tell me I didn't have an acceptable carrier for her, I'd probably just tell them to hospitalize me. I really can't take much more of this.

I wish I were that close to be able to go and look at stuff. I'm coming in not far from you. US Air gave me their requirements, but they said I also have to check with both airports. I left that for tomorrow because I was just too worn out with all the hassle today. At this point, if they tell me she has to be wearing a pink dress with a purple ruffle and some blue and yellow embroidery, I won't even be surprised. I'll just have to find somebody who knows how to sew :mad:
