For your little Houdini Well when I got home Miss Maya was at the door toe greet me (climbed the gate again, even though I had wrapped a towel around the gate so that she couldn't get a foothold Ha!!!!) Anyway, I went to Babies are Us and bought a new gate that is made of smooth plastic. It looks somewhat like a shower door. NO PLACE TO GET A FOOT HOLD. It was just 16.00 and it is called Clear Choice Gate. So all you folks with those little climbers take heed. Maya is so mad! |
Aww!! Poor Maya, I hate their defeated look:( But this is good to know in case I need one in the future;) |
They sure can find a way to accomplish what they want, can't they! We had been keeping Camden in a regular playpen that had worked fine for Wrigley. It had a mesh netting on the top that we secured under the legs. Well Miss determined somehow jumped up onto the railing and scaled down between the playpen and netting and worked her way out! It's amazing how they can be! Glad you found something new to work for you! |
can you take a picture of it? thanks |

Aww... I remember those days :) I even had to go as far as create a "top" for the playpen that my Meka was in... Because she wasnt just climbling the baby gate, she could actually jump it! I didnt think it was possible...but when she began jumping up on our bed's and couch... then I began to see that these little guys can really be a "flight risk" :D |
sorry she's so miserable about your great find -- guess now, she'll know who is boss |
wow you got a deal says 39.95 on there and got it for 16.00 nice. im glad suki hasnt figured out the crate yet. |

It doesn't give the measurements that I could find. The other link posted with the higher price says it is 32 inches. |
How much do the regular normal baby gates run? I need another, the one I have right now I am borrowing from a family member and need to buy my own, I just keep forgetting when I'm out to see how much they are. |
Nevermind, I see now that you posted which one you got and I like it better than the standard with the holes in it (Lilly likes to stick her nose in the holes whenever we're sitting in the kitchen eating dinner and whine ) |

My 16.00 one is 23" high |
Victory...the little monster was right where I left her this morning....and quieter than usual...but I am clearly seeing that the 2:30 ish AM potty break is needed, so I guess I must set the alarm. By the way, I don't know why she thinks I keep putting those nice pee pads on the floor so neatly. She politely moves them out of the way and goes on the FLOOR in an emergency.....I have porus porcelin tile floors, and after she poohs looks like she feels the need to smush it into the floor REAL good making clean up take approximately an entire roll of paper towels:mad: |
Thanks for the info on the gate, Misti1. I bookmarked the page in case my little lady decides to climb over her X-pen. Keep your fingers crossed! She loves to climb everywhere else and I am afraid it is only a matter of time. |

I have a gate i keep up on the front door. We are on the second floor. I am very scared that she is going to get out a fall off the balconey. I watch her closely when the door is opened and the gate is there . I also watch her like a hawk if the window is open... There are screens, but i am scared that she is going to push them out. |

Well this gate is a god-send. She was still in lock down when I got home, and today she must have accidently used the paper, though she snatched the pad out of the harm's way........I would call this a good day. |

I'm with you on this one!! Boy I wish I had read your posting about a week ago. I have my female yorkie Dixie who is 17weeks old and my twin daughters have thier male yorkie Teddy who is 15 weeks old. They have run of the entire kitchen and we are trying to piddle pad train them. Some days they are so good and somedays not so good. Therefore they cannot have run of the house. I purchased small gates for the two doors leading into the kitchen. They are made for small dogs and are only 18 inches high. These have worked great up until about a week ago when Dixie who is the "HOUDINI" learned to jump up high enough and get traction with her little hind legs and over she goes. So I thought this is not going to work anymore. We only had to step over it so it was not too much of a problem for us humans. So I ordered from Walmart two baby gates that had pretty good reviews and were 30inches high and thought that would work. Just open the gate door and step through. Surely she could not jump this high. Last nite Hubby installed them and immediatly Dixie showed all of us how she could get her little 4pd. body right between the bars. SO, now we thought what can we do. So with cable ties we secured the 18inch ones to one side of the Walmart gate to secure them in til we could get to the home store to purchase something to wrap between the bars. This did not look too good and prohibited us from easily stepping into the kitchen but for a day or so we thought we could live with this. So we thought we had Dixie outsmarted til today when I left to go pick up my son from his summer job and when I returned both Teddy and Dixie were running all over the house and have just a grand old time exploring and playing with the cats and creating havoc. When I came in they looked so guilty, but so happy that I burst into laughter. Long story short, we worked on this some more tonite but tomorrow my hubby will be visiting the home store to get something to remedy this. Boy these yorkies sure are something. Amazing to me that they could get thru those bars. The gate you purchased sounds like the most perfect thing. I wish I had seen that kind. My thoughts are with you, let me know how it goes!!:) |

The baby gates we use we got at target for $10- :D and they work fabulous for us! ;) BUT i saw the SAME gate at wal mart for $30!! SO.. you just gotta check a couple places! ;) this baby gate looks nice.. no holes(for those climbers!):D |
I think I'm going to need one of these. Our newest is going to come over our gate soon. She can almost do it now. I mentioned to my DH a couple of days ago that we were going to have to find something different. Thanks for the tip! |
Awww you mean Mommy ... poor MAYA .... LOL |

I know exactly the bar gate you are talking about. I was looking at it IN THE STORE, and Maya walked through the bars. The sales lady and I looked at each other , and she put that one back up...that was when they told me about the clear gate one. As of this morning, Al Capone is still contained, and NOT happy about it. :) |
