1 Attachment(s) This is what a silky coated yorkie should look like : |
nugget is starting to turn gray right now too...i absolutely love it...he almost looks like a little old man :) his dad was gray and absolutely gorgeous! |
Heidi was really dark as a puppy, but she's been turning more and more gray. Now the top of her head is almost white, and her back is a charcoal color. Her legs are blonde, and her "moustache" is reddish. When I got her at 8 weeks, she had really light gray roots on top of her head, so I thought she would have that color head eventually. I think she's beautiful. With yorkies, there can be a huge range in color. I've seen some older females that are so light blonde (all over) that they're almost white! I think all the yorkie colors are beautiful! |

I had the same thing happen to Samson. He's about 4-1/2 months now. I took him to the groomer last week. He went in a black puppy with the tan face and feet, and he came out looking silver. His father was silver/blue and his mother was black. I had to look twice to make sure they had given me the right dog! Regardless what's on the outside, he's still the same fire ball I took in for grooming! |
It's kinda funny, but we have 5 puppies that are 12 weeks old now. Everyone comments that 'they don't look anything like their parents'. I keep a little Yorkshire Terrier book in their room to show them that the pups are black and tan and mom and dad are blue and gold. Now I am wondering as the babies mature how their coats will mature. They are all so different from size to faces to hair. |

:D Well I kind of like the color change myself its like they have there own outfits...always changing. Archie is 9mo and he is pretty silver and blue but he has a small outline around his ears of gold. and he is getting more silver blue. But i do have a question his papers say a different color then what he is turning out do i have to change them...sorry I'm new to small dogs :aimeeyork |

I have 3 Yorkies and they are different colors . It is really fun to see the variety . |
Bleach job My four year old female has a black body, but her head is as grey as it can be. It looks like someone plopped a different head on her body. Sjhe is cottony. SO different. Our 8 month old male looks like he needs a new bleach job. His head is almost white (with little tiny black tips) and the rest of his body is black with about an inch or two of silver at the base. His coat seems thin and whispy and very straight. |
Well, Gracie seems to be different from everyone else's Yorkie. She is now a one year old and the hair on her back is as black as night, no grey, white, silver, just black. The hair on her head and feet is the pretty gold color except she still has a good bit of black on her face and the top of her head seems to be grey, maybe turning to gold... She has really not changed much at all since we got her? Can it take that long for a coat to change? Is it possible, she won't change color?? |
Sandrine was the same color as Gracie until she was 18 months old and then became dark steel blue and gold . |
