Pet Store / Rescue  Just curious, I've ready many threads saying never buy from a pet store. They say they are dogs most likely from puppy mills. I understand many dogs from rescues are there under different circumstances as well (good or bad). Could someone clairfy the difference. Just sitting and thinking about it, I thought "no matter where you get your pet, aren't you "rescuing" them and providing them the care and love they deserve"? :idontknow Thanks in advance for staightening me out! :coffee_n_ |
petstore/rescue The way I've always looked at it is that, when you buy from a pet store, they will then go get another dog from the puppy mill to replace the one you bought. This means that the puppy mills will continue to breed so that they can fill the pet stores. Whereas, if you get a dog from a rescue, they are not going to go buy another dog to replace the one you got. Hope that helps! |
Thank you! That absolutely makes sense!! :) |
I don't know how I feel about the whole thing because regardless, the store is going to drop the price on a perfectly good dog because it's "not a puppy anymore" and go buy a new pup from a puppy mill because "people want puppies" :( It's a whole cycle. I do feel that some animals need to be rescued from the pet store, especially those who are been over looked for so long. |
