Wondering about tempers??? We have a little toy schnauzer that I thought took the prize on tempers but Kayla makes Tina look like an angel. She waits until you forget and leave the remote control down, or as soon as the dryer goes off she is right there for dryer sheet just to fall out. This dog can catch something before it hits the ground and is gone. She honestly has a grip like a pit bull. She has bitten me trying to take things away from her. How could anything that little and with that sweet little face be sooooooo mean. She is one tart believe me. (but we love her) |
OMG, I think you have a Yorkie!!! Our alpha isn't our oldest, and she's actually our smallest. She's a big three pounds full grown, and nobody has told her that, even our bigger dogs. It's unbelievable how strong her grip and tug are. She almost always wins tug of war with our others even though they're heavier. She's also a bit selfish until we chastise her. When we buy a new toy, she considers it hers until she decides otherwise. I don't think your problem is so much temper as temperment and personality. Yorkies are very possessive dogs. It sounds like yours is either trying to play in some cases, or to claim something in others. I seriously doubt she's actually mean. Our Tea isn't mean, but she gets a fair bit of scolding simply because she's so dominant. (We have a 17 pound cat that's terrified of her.) You might want to look into an obedience class for her. If you do, screen them first. There are some people who say Yorkies can't be trained. That's complete nonsense, but you don't want to spend any amount of time or money on a trainer who thinks your dog is a lost cause before you even begin! |
