what is up with this? Ok Riley a very sweet boy, he is now 4 months old now and I noticed that he has been doing alot of growling lately. I cant figure out where his is coming from? He will hear a noise and jsut start growling. or if he sees something he must think in strange, he will start growling, could this be something with his age? anyone have any ideas. this is so out of character for him. |
I think he's just growing up and now thinks he has to protect "his" den and "his" pack. hehe. My Razael who is 11 months now is still doing the growling thing with every new thing and every new sound. If she starts barking and get's too carried away, I just do something to take her mind off of what ever it is. :D |
Oh, Gracie Ruth is quite the defender of The Realm. Any unusual noise and she is off like a shot to investigate with all the appropriate growling, woofing, and barks. Boo, bless his wittle heart :p , just watches her head off into uncertain danger. I think he's secretly hoping something will actually eat her and put his world back to the proper order. Gracie has quite a large bark and a very fierce growl and it's even more so at 2:30 in the morning :eek::mad::eek: when she thinks she hears an intruder. lol But ya gotta love their huge hearts to watch over and protect their packs. She too started this at around 4 months of age, she's nearly 7 months now and I don't really care if she never grows out of it. I am glad she feels confident enough to go investigate the noises. |
Ah Maxi does this all the time. He is a growler. Check Maxi's youtube videos in my signature and you will know what I mean :D |
Well, Kacee, isn't a growler or a barker. Not at all. But at night she will go in the living room (no lights on) and look out the windows and you can hear her growling very quietly and sometimes she will bark some. It's kind of funny. You know how everything looks different at night?:) |
My Jewels growls when she hears noises sometimes. its funny she is so submissive and wouldnt hurt a flea but she sounds ferocious |
hank is 5 months old and started doing the same thing around the same time he did. I think its too cute and funny. Idont worry about it. I think he thinks he is protecting his momma! lol |
Awww he's trying to impress his Momma!!! We have four adults and they all bark and growl at "the strangeness of things", lol... We also have four babies that are 10 weeks old that are doing as they see their peers do and they will also bark and growl now...It makes me feel safe especially at night knowing they are "on duty" at all times... I think he is likely learning his responsibilities of protecting his territory. So if he feels like theres wierdness somewhere, he's going to warn you... I love them all!! Be proud he has such keen senses... |
My girl has just now found her voice in the past few weeks. Shes a late bloomer. She doesnt bark a lot but when she does - shew! Its ON! But yes - when she first found her voice she would try to impress us. :D Now - she only barks when a dog should - to alert us. Or to talk back after being told NO! :animal-pa |
Thank you all so much. I feel better now. It must be a yorkie thing then, my bichons never did. So I had no Idea what this was about, but I am glad that he is learning to be our protector,It is so comical when he does this,but next time Ill thank him for being such a brave boy and letting me know that he hears something. |
I think Kayla is a chronic griper. She will even be in bed with us or when we are watching tv and you hear this little growl. She is so funny. Its just like she gripes to herself about everything. |

Lil Miss Maggy May is now 10 months old and does this, she's actually been doing it for about the last two months. I think she's just coming into her own and is going to be one awesome watch dog. Perhaps yours is going to be the same way? |
