I agree with you on that. :) My cats are 15 pounds and 14 lbs I thought they were small until I got my Yorkies!!!! I read so so many post that say they had expected a much much smaller dog. Well my little Jack is such a cutie and just a bit more to luv thats all :) !!!!!! :aimeeyork :aimeeyork

Well, I'm not going to be too upset if it were to grow larger than say, 5lbs. The only thing is, that I will be taking him/her out often as I had mentioned. I am single/living alone and therefore do not want to leave it alone very often. *hoping to be relatively discreet in public places* ; )

But really, I am wanting a Yorkie as small as possible at a reasonable price. Actually, I am hoping to find one with the max. growth range of 3-4lbs.

I understand that its important to you to get a very small pup but you should also consider the health issues that may occur with having such a tiny pup. Especially if you are always taking it out with you. I am not saying that the pup will have health problems. There are definitly more possible health problems with a 3 pound versus 5. Whats a couple extra pounds?? It may save heart ache in the long run.

you're right. I agree with this as well. actually, i don't know how to compare sizes and such because I have only seen a yorkie "in person" maybe twice in my life! 5 lbs would be fine. I really don't want to get any bigger though. I think the reason why I am stressing myself for tiny(er) is because it isn't guaranteed, and I am sure breeders will estimate downwards to appeal. That, and as I said, I don't even really know how large the standard would be! I have nothing to go off of.

I had quite a bit more to say, I tryed to edit the post but i was not allowed to "5 minutes after the original post" Oh well. I will keep you folks updated.

-The first post mentioned puppies I was going to visit this week... but, the boy told me they were 1lb at 6 1/2 weeks and his father said 2lbs today (and 8 inches long) so, I bet they have quite a bit to go!

I have a feeling this search will not be short-lived. Thats okay, in fact, it will make that special day even brighter when it does come. : )

I think there is a huge difference between a 3 lb. dog and a 5lb. dog. I will still love my dog if she ends up being 5lbs. and I will still consider her a small dog BUT I won't be able to include her as much. (I don't want to start another debate, I am just stating my reality) I REALLY want my dog to be between 3 and 4 lbs. Tiny (under 2lbs. would be too much work and not seem doglike to me)

You CAN find a healthy tiny, it just takes a lot of time and research. Not all people that say they have tiny dogs are considering their health and not all of them are honest. (Beware of Tiny skinny dogs posed in/as teacups)

I dont think you are shallow at all, i often wish that i could carry toby in a carrier instead of leaving him at home, but at close to fifteen lbs this is an impossibility

All of the females I looked at were more expensive than the males and they were sold with a "limited registration" meaning I couldn't breed them. (I only looked at breeders that show their dogs)

I think females cost more b/c of supply and demand.
