Scorpion!! Help Lily was just bit by a scorpion on the foot? She doesn't seem like she is in pain she is just holding it up and limping on it. Any advice or suggestions?? HELP  :aimeeyork |
Dogs do not like to show people they are in pain... Take your baby to the vet ASAP. |
I know nothing about the scorpions in TX! I know that here they are harmless...no worse than a bee sting and I would advise Benadryl...but I don't know about YOUR scorpions. Don't you guys have poisonous Whip Scorpions there! :( I would suggest calling poison control. |
I would call your vet asap. Scorpion stings HURT! And in some cases can have people end up in the hospital. |
Definitely call the vet to see what they say...they may be able to tell you what to do over the phone...if your vet isn't available at this hour, call the local er vet. Do you have the scorpion? I know there are different kinds, and the vet may need to know what kind it is. Praying all is well! :love-hug1 |
I lived in Texas, and they can be very bad, especially for children and small animals, get to a vet immediately. I've also read to put ice on it. |
Please get your baby to the vet asap. |
You heard everyone..........get going!!!;) Let us know what the Vet. says. |
My husband says you have to worry more if it was a little scorpion compared to if it was a big scorpion. I wish your baby well. |
I thought Harlee was bitten a couple of years ago when we just moved to Az., I called an emergency vet (it was 11pm) and they said I could bring her in for observation overnight ($90 for a vet to look at her) ..They wouldn't do anything (there is no antivenom)...They said give her benedryl watch if she gets lathargic...My husband got stung a couple of weeks ago on his finger, it's like a bee sting , it hurts, but should be alright.... She kept barking in our master bathroom at something until my husband got up, moved a basket of towels and there it was...It was so fast, we were scared to death, luckily nothing happened... But I would call a vet and see what they say .... Prayers to you and your baby..................... |
Hoping Lily is ok. Poor Baby!:aimeeyork Pls keep us posted!! |
My vet was not open so I called the emergency vet clinic they said I could bring Lily in to have her checked over ($80) but they said that it wasn't necessary. They said to watch for swelling in her eyes and muzzle (nose area) and if she starts coughing or acting tired and unusual. If that happened they said to bring her in ASAP. I have been watching her and she has no symptoms at all (thank goodness!) Her little paw is not sore, she doesn't limp on it anymore, and she is playing and running around like normal. I am so glad that she is ok and didn't have a reaction. They are so furry it is hard to see if there is a sting but I think she is acting fine and will be ok :) Thanks for all the help and support YT!! :animal-pa :D |
I am glad that she is better! It is possible that she did not get a "full" sting. Glad she is ok. Thank you for updating! |
Oh, Thank Goodness!! Did they suggest to give Benadryl? It wouldn't hurt just in case during the night she could have a reaction?? I certainly hope not, but to be on the safe side....& both Mommy/baby will probably sleep better! |
Good! :) |
