When should I bring Jackson & Bear home? For those of you not familiar with Jackson & Bear, they are my two new Yorkie pups that will be coming home soon. My ex had an unexpected litter of pups and planned to give me one. Then she decided she wanted me to have both surviving pups, my boys, Jackson and Bear. It's approaching time to bring them home and my ex is wanting them to come home a little earlier than planned. My kids have been telling me that Jackson and Bear are driving my ex nuts. They also tell me that they're really getting on Abby's nerves a lot as well. Abby is their mother. They want to jump and pounce and play all the time and I guess they're not being the most well behaved toddlers. They were ten weeks old yesterday. They'll be twelve weeks old August 26th and the plan is for me to bring them home on Friday the 29th. My ex is not so subtly dropping hints that they're ready and how much fun it would be for them to come home and that I can bring them home if I want. Of course I want to but I want to do what is right by them even more. My concern is my ex hounding me about it. Should I cave and bring them on home this weekend, two weeks early or should I insist they stay the additional two weeks? I wouldn't bring them home before this weekend and by then they'd be closer to eleven weeks old. I'll go along with whatever the YT consensus is. I'm looking for good advice and reason here because if I'm left to my own devices, I'll wind up listening to my heart rather than my head and will go over to pick them up later tonight! What do you think guys? Thanks for your advice and opinions. - Byron |
I think I would just go ahead and bring them home as soon as possible. If they are as big a nuisance as your ex claims, then they would actually feel neglected. Puppies need lots of love and training. |
These last 2 weeks really are important for them to learn manners from their momma, however, if they are running over her and she's not able to put a stop to their nonsense it probably would be best for you to go ahead and get them. Just be prepared to be the surrogate mommy and teach them to be good canine citizens. Puppies are very active, but at 10 weeks they can learn so much from you if you are consistent with your rules. Whatever you decide to do, I'd make the decission based on what's best for the boys, not the ex. Oh and be sure to post pictures ASAP!!! Love puppy pictures!! :D |
I would go and get them. Doesn't sound like momma wants them around anymore. |
TeresaM asked for photos. I don't have any really recent ones but here's the links to all my previous photo and video posts.
