Low Costing Vet in the NY,NJ CT area Hello I wrote the thread earlier about my dog having an acl tear in her leg. Since my only choices are to get rid of her or leave the leg untreated, I at least wanted to see if anyone knew of any vets that were low cost in the NY, NJ or CT area. The surgery for her was $3,000 for the first leg. If I can find a vet that will charge at least half of that, I will be able to keep my dog. If you have a vet let me know. Also I called the ASPCA in New York that are supposed to be low cost but they would not give me a phone estimate. I am finding this with most of the places I am calling. But I thought the ASPCA or Humane society was supposed to be a lot cheaper than private vets. Can anyone confirm? Thanks |
The Humaine Society is alot cheaper than private vets I just dont know if they do that kind of surgery. It is worth looking into |
I hope you can find someone. I know the groomer I use told me she knew a vet in my area that is really cheap but good for LP if Cali needed it. Maybe you can check with some groomers see if they know of anyone or maybe a vet school. |

In looking online the closest vet school to NY is one in Pennsylvania. I just called them and they said they are not low costing that they are the same as any vet hospital. They also would not give an estimate over the phone. :( I don't know why they wont do this. I thought it would be easier if I shopped around but that seems impossible to do if no one will answer you unless you bring your dog in. |

Good Luck, I so hope you can work this out. |
the vet charges in PA are soooo much cheaper than in NY/NJ/CT. i volunteer with Save A Yorkie Rescue in Sinking Spring, PA (near Reading) and our volunteers in the PA area always get better prices for everything. you can contact Marilyn at SAY Rescue and ask her if she can recommend a vet/hospital close to the NJ border - it will be worth driving 2 hours to get there. |
I'm so sorry about your baby's leg. I wish I could recommend a low cost surgeon in the area. I personally used AERA in Fairfield, NJ for both of my dog's knees. They are not inexpensive. Is there a chance you can apply for credit? |
