asking about the inbred question again, lol
 
So after talking to someone they scared me that my future yorkie will be vicious and crazy because basically I'm rescuing a puppy that is inbred. I'm sure you've all heard my questions before but I'm looking for a little reassurance again, lol. The father basically wasn't kept from the mother when she went into heat and basically there you have it, my puppy was born. I'm prepared for any health risks as I've set up a vet fund but so far at 9 weeks he is a happy healthy little rambunctious teething little guy. Am I taking home a crazy cujo? Words of encouragemnt, please lol.

Good for you!!! Don't pay any attention to the ignorant people who have nothing better to do than to bash!! Bless you for giving a rescue a loving home. Just love and spoil your baby to pieces!!! :D

Thank you so much. The person who has him right now loves him very much and said he's a sweetie pie. I have kids and another dog and I just picture a dog with red eyes and a machette chasing after them, lol j/k okay not that bad but you get the drift.

he is probably fine.. but maybe not for breeding:)

all the boys are like that any way.. just keep the machetes on a high shelf:p

Please don't worry, I am sure your baby will be just fine. Dogs have been inbred for many years and we would not have all the breeds we have today if it were not for inbreeding. Most people have a misconception about inbreeding. My Little Man is the results of a father to daughter breeding and you could not ask for a sweeter yorkie and his son Shorty is just as sweet. They are both very loving and they have very calm dispositions and both have produced beautiful puppies. If you can find out more information about the personalities of the parents then that will give you a better idea of how your puppy will act. I don't recommend that anyone breed their dogs unless they really know what they are doing. I do understand that accidents do happen. Hopefully the parents of this puppy did not have any serious genetic problems that will be passed on to him. Please keep us posted as to how he does.

Please don't listen to ignorant people. ;)

It seems to me that you have prepared yourself if you might have a medical issue with your new puppy and will cross that bridge if need be. If you have a behavioral issue you can cross that bridge as well. Don't look for problems where you do not have any.:D

Please post lots of pictures when you can!

i think that inbreeding is used by breeders.. they call it line breeding because they are very well informed:animal-pa

crossbreeding, linebreeding, and in breeding..
crossbreeding is mixing same breed for a larger gene pool
inbreeding/linebreeding is fewer genes in the pool to set traits

You can think you have a very healthy pup because most genetic problems show up at two years old and after. Liver Shunt before 6 mos as a rule but can be later.

Inbreeding is breeding father to daughter, mother to son or half-brother to half-sister. Line breeding is breeding more distantly related dogs like grandparent, cousin, etc. In line breeding some of the relatives may also be several generations back. Breeding any dogs can be risky and end with poor results so it is always best to do a lot of research and seek guidance from someone experienced before attempting to breed dogs. There are many health issues showing up in the yorkie breed due to reckless breeding.

He's basically a rescue dog and we're prepared for whatever comes our way, I agree it's reckless but I had nothing to do with the breeding and just want to give a little boy a loving home that more then likely wouldn't have one.

I would like to commend you on the fact that you are giving this rescue a loving home but I think I will reserve that until I know he is neutered.

Ooh don't worry about that I have always spayed and neutered my pets, I firmley believe in that as a pet owner. I like it so much I'm thinking of sending my husband in to the family vet.... ok joking about the husband part... lol.

i am wondering if all these genetic diseases can be traced to the puppy mills.
they are the ones who do not care. they are the ones shipping sick dogs all over the country. plus all the dogs imported.. they must have gotten into the gene pool. hopefully, there are some healthy lines left. good reason to spay/neuter most dogs. :aimeeyork

very good reason to spay/neuter. I can't tell you how many people in my area dont' spay/neuter their cats and it's led to a sad population of strays. I get so upset when I see a cat with a collar and tags on clearly unneutered. Same with some of the dogs I've seen loose around town, unneutered. It's why I love taking in rescue animals (this is my third adoption of an animal) because it's just not fair that people aren't being responsible with their pets and it leads to strays often.
