Tearing Carpet Apart! My babies were out all over the house and my sister suddenly calls for me and says look at the carpet. I look and were the carpet starts right were the tiled entry way end they had shreaded a full strip. This si not acceptable as we rent this house and not pet are allowed and I already have two violations. Have any of your babies done this I had never had them behave this bad before. I still love them and didn't say anything but have to hear it from everyone else.   |
Well mine have not touched the carpet, but they have bitten the walls, furniture and our personal things. It is frustrating! I put palmolive liquid soap and also the bitter apple and it has worked! Hope this helps! |
I am not sure if it is true what they say, but I have read that when you get a new dog always be ready to lose 3 things in your house due to their destruction... hmmmm....so far I've only got clawed leather furniture from Schatzie hiding her small toy balls. So, she no longer is allowed small balls. Of course you can't remove your carpet so maybe some Apple Bitter spray on the carpet might detour some chewing., or a large play pen for confignment might work until your little one is trained to be "in the house nicely without any confignment to aid in destruction and can be trusted"... Good luck! :p |
i am lucky.......... i have only sustained one chewed cord (my fiances headphones...... lol.... not even mine) |
Yorkie-zilla Proud and happy owner of Chelsea, 9 month old, 11.5 female yorkie....better known as Yorkie-zilla! :aimeeyork She has chewed MANY things, last night was the den carpet. We dont know why, besides boredom. She just sat down and chewed and pulled away, our daughter THOUGHT she was playing with a toy, until she walked around the table. I immediately, scolded her, and sprayed bitter apple on the spot, then moved the coffee table over the spot to discourage more chewing. Yorkie-zilla has chewed cords, corners of baseboard, cabinets, legs of chair, tv trays, shutter panel, two harnesses, plants, flowers, pinecones, and probably more I havent seen yet. Dont ask if she is teething, she has ALL of her adult teeth. She has MANY, MANY toys too. Please save our home, we dont want to be homeless! WILL THIS EVER STOP???? Chelsea'sMom |

"Yorkie-zilla"....LOL !! :D I am sorry, i know it's not funny but her little nick name is just so darn cute!! Im guessing she will stop....when she runs out of carpet. Just kidding! :p |
My dogs have chewed up an area rug of mine. To get them to stop doing this I started spraying them with the spray bottle when I noticed them chewing on it. |
Wow...this post hits close to home becuase it's happened in my home!!! Bella was chewing up carpet in my dinning area and some in my bedroom. I dont understand what the attraction to the carpet is! However, I figured out a way to deter it and guess what, IT WORKED! I bought some bitter apple and whenever I saw that she was sniffing around the carpets, I'd spray bitter apple on the carpet. After trying twice to chew at it, she learned her lesson and haven't tried again since. Give spraying bitter apple on your stuff, it'll work...I know! |
Coco had chewed my little carpet area and I sprayed bitter apple and no more chewing. It's just out of boredom when they get destructive. Take the babies out for more walks, play more fetch, ect. |
I put Shelby in the bathroom when I eat, so she won't beg for my food, and there is a carpet in there. She pulls each piece of yarn out of the carpet with her teeth and makes such a mess, so yeah I know what you are going through. Shelby has also chewed through a xbox controller cord of my brothers. He wasn't too happy! |
Olivia was in a big carpet phase about a month ago. She had chewed under the ironing board and I somehow never noticed. I just kept seeing little pieces of carpet all over the place. I'm sure there is something you can do to patch this. If you no one else has advise on how to fix it, PM me- my boyfriend worked for a flooring company for a few years and is my resident flooring expert- perhaps he can recommend something for you if you think you'll get in trouble with your landlord. |
I dont have carpets in my apt but Gucci did chew on the baseboards, furniture and doors. I used the bitter apple, have her a toy to chew and tell her NO and it finally work. She doesnt chew on anything anymore, just her toys. Good luck. |
So far Joey has chewed up a pair of my favorite sandals, ruined both bath mats in our bathrooms and chewed up some of the walls - I'm hoping this is a "teething" stage, and that's it - lol. |
When Bell was small, she got into everything.. Not carpet but everything else. She dug a hole in my wall, actually 3 walls, but 1 was really bad. she chewed on my fireplace wooden legs. She chewed my shoes, and all the wood stuff she could get her little mouth on. |
