im raging mad ok, Abby has been going to puppy class at petsmart on wednesdays for about a month already. well we happened to miss class 3 because of a heavy storm that day. i called the instructor and cancelled and we set up a make-up session for that saturday. well we showed up that saturday and she wasn't there!!! i even waited for about a half hour hoping she showed up. well she didnt! and i ended up wasting so much money on clothes and toys for Abby. On wednesday i asked her wat happened and she gave me some sorry excuse. Well turns out she moved to another state and we got a new instructor. The ppl that had missed the class and i re-scheduled for this past saturday.. GUESS WATTTTTT!! she didnt show up either. I was beyond pissedddd at this point. How could they do this to ppl?? Im so done with them. I am going on wednesday and i am cancelling the classes and getting my money back. this is ridiculous!!! sorry i had to vent!! |
That's so wrong! I would be furious too. |
Wow, I would have been upset as well! Sorry, what a mess! |
I would have been beyond furious too. What ever happened to good 'ole fashioned work ethics AND a bit of courtesy. |
yea man, this is nuts. i guess from now on wen i have a question on teaching tricks i just go to the training section. Duh!!! lol |
Training is about being consistent!!! I too - would be frigging furious. Not only have they NOT helped you - they have hendared and confused your baby. I was joining the next one here - well Miami (closest to the Keys) - but dont think I will bother now. Thanks for sharing - Im really sorry this didnt work out. We dont need people messing with our babies routines - training - ew - we dont need that... bad business! :thumbdown |
to be honest with u, I don't even think it's necessary. I think those classes r a waste of time and money. Ur better off just pickin up a book or askin pol here how to tech certain tricks. U'll b better off like that |

I would be super ticked too. I am actually starting a manners 1 class this evening. It is not through a big company like PetSmart or Pet Co. It is a group of local trainers that have come together in a business. I really like it because it's cheaper than either PetSmart or Pet Co and you come as much as you want. They always have a trainer there and you move through the different levels at your own pace. So in 8 weeks you could make it though just level 1 or you could make it through all 4. Try looking around to find a training program that is more low key. If you have a dog park in your area, try taking your puppy there and ask other dog owners who, if they used a trainer, and how to get a hold of them. That is how I found out about the place I am going to. Two people recommended them to me. I don't blame you at all for mad and wanting your money back. Not showing up at all or even to inform the new instructer is obsurd! And then to not have this one show up either shows horrible work ethic. I would even try taking it up with the GM of the store. There really should have been no reason for it. |
Id be pretty mad about that also |
Look at this way, maybe you are lucky that they didn't show up. I have not heard much good about their training and the people they hire is pretty much " you trained 'A' dog, ok you're hired " sort of thing. I'm sure some have been happy but most trainers there do not have the experience. Get your money back!! |
Perhaps I'm missing something, but it sounds like you missed the class, they rescheduled a Saturday "make-up" and no instructor showed up. We took Joey to the trick training classes, and if we missed a class, they would try to work us into another make-up, but there was no guarantee of that. You might want to read your contract. |

Oh sorry that happened to you. I would be very mad too. |
Ditto to what Chattiesmom said! |
elaine. Ur good girl the one I go to is in union Nancy. I really don't think the contract matters at this point. Both the instructor and I scheduled a time that wud b convinient for both of us. We had both agreed on something and I don't think it was fair for them to not show up twice!! This crap jsut goes to show how ppl nowadays don't have respect for others. Very verry irritating! |

ok about 3 weeks ago it was raining veryyyy bad the day we were supposed to have class. me and 3 others didnt show up. the first time the instructor called me back and set up a private meeting for that saturday. well i went and she wasn't there. i was asking people who work there and they all said they didnt know where she was blah blah blah.ok so the next week i asked her wat happened and she didnt say anything she changed the subject. thats wen she told us she was leaving and we will be gettin a new instructor. ok so last wednesday we went and met the instructor. this time.... all three of us reminded her that we need a make up class. she said ok wat time did u guys agree? we said saturday (again i guess that the only other time we can all come). class ended and we all reminded her that we will see her this past sat. well i went AND THIS INSTRUCTOR WASNT THERE!!! i asked people again who work there and they all said they didnt know where she was.... in other words... they STOOD ME UP twice (for the same make up class) i still havent had session 3 and this wednesday is session 6!!! i've had just about enough of this crap. they suck and to be honest they dont really teach anything. they just tell u wat to do n do it once so u can see it done. then they just babble and stuff. ughhh oh yea.. its an 8 week class.... |

OK, now I understand. :D When Joey was 8 months old, I wanted to enroll him in a class for socialization purposes, and the trainer recommended the "puppy class" since he was small, but after one class I realized we needed a class with more to offer. They allowed me to switch to the trick training class and I'm really glad I did. Although I'm familiar with the fundamentals of learning theory, I didn't know how to go about the steps you take when you teach a dog a trick, each trick is a series of small steps. If you don't do them correctly, you could confuse the dog very easily. The classes are more to teach the owner how to train the dog, not training the dog itself. In other words, you have to work several times a day on the tricks, but the methods she taught worked and Joey did well. Maybe, you could just switch to one of the more advanced classes because the better trainers do these. Some of the beginning classes the girls are not really even long time employees and have had no special training, and it sounds like they are getting fired or leaving before they complete a whole class. I would definitely recommend talking to the instructor who will be conducting the class because their knowledge and professionalism varies greatly. We still do the trick training daily, and it something that Joey really seems to enjoy. Since "they" missed two classes you could probably get your money back though. |
