Yorkie Fighting I have two Yorkie puppies (15 weeks) who have moved from sibling playing to all-out snarling and fighting. How is this best handled? |
I know there'll be someone here with better advice, but for now, I'd separate them and only let them be together when I could be there to supervise. (you don't want them to hurt each other) I'm sure when more people are awake you'll get someone who can help you more than this. I wish you luck with your little fireballs. |
Are they fighting or just making noises like they are going to kill each other? I go through this with MacTavish and Madeline just about every day in the backyard. If it looks like it's getting out of hand, I yell "hey!". I read on another post that shaking coins in a can stops them as well. If they are both males, they could be fighting for dominance. |
if it is real fighting, they are likely trying to figure out who is top dog. the best way is for you to become alpha and enforce your will on them to stop them from fighting. you need to remain calm when dealing with their fighting, if you are nervous or afraid you fuel the fight. if you are yelling and screaming, you fuel the fight. a simple word (i use enough) and step inbetween them and seperate if you must. you can do many things to establish your dominance and position at the top. making them sit before feeding, and waiting. taking their food away mid meal and giving it back, taking toys from them when they are playing with them and then giving them back. and many many more things you can do. once you establish yourself as their leader, their infighting will lesson, and eventually they will happily coexist beneath you. |
