Need Transport: Atlanta to Charlotte next weekend Rescuing a sad little Yorkie female out of Alabama, and she has arrived in Atlanta today, where she can stay for a week. Looking for people to drive 2 legs of the trip next SATURDAY (8/16) or Sunday (8/17): First leg: Atlanta, Ga to Greenville, SC, 2nd leg: Greenville, SC to Charlotte, NC. I will pick up the dog in Charlotte at whatever pre-arranged time we come up with. I am VERY prompt, and will not let you down. Anyone game?? Let me know here, and we'll do the phone or email thing to set specifics. Thanks, Lynn (who is new here, but not to Yorkies) |
Bump, to assist in getting it done for this weekend. Thanks! |
YT Yorkie Train I will be going from Atlanta to Tennessee but not until the following weekend. And I would be willing to help if you can wait a week and if someone could perhaps pick the sweetie up somewhere in northern Georgia or between Chattanooga and Nashville. I know that is a little different route, but I am more than willing to help Welcome to YT!! |
Thanks so much for your offer. Actually, she was not supposed to be sent til NEXT weekend, and someone at the shelter screwed up and sent her yesterday instead. So we are already "imposing" (we kinda drafted them) on someone to foster her for a week, and I don't want to push my luck by asking for another week. Also, we are headed towards central/eastern NC, and pick-up in Tennessee is almost farther than driving to Atlanta, LOL. But I really do appreciate your offer. All of us go so far out of our way for these sweet little pups, and it's worth every mile. |
Good luck. I was just thinking if I could help even get her to Chattanooga, maybe someone else could get her to Greenville - but shoot maybe I read the map wrong. You might also want to post in the Regional forums - I'm trying to think who is from Georgia or SC or NC that could help |
I just passed Atlanta yesterday....seems like we could have helped before and some for after...so there has to be someone that will be available for the week of...:goodluck: |
Thanks to all who are thinking about this. I did post in the regional section, and I'm hoping to get some replies there. Taking her to Chattanooga would be somewhat out of the way, as it's only 2 hours from Atlanta to Greenville straight up I-85, and it's way more than that from Chat. to Greenville, not to mention that there's no good road between the 2. But it was a thought, and if someone was going that way, we'd take it. I'm just thinking that it's gonna be easier to catch a ride if we keep it direct, and on the interstate. If I can find someone to do the 2 hour drive from Atlanta to Greenville, and then someone to take her from Greenville to Charlotte (about 1.5 hr), then I will pick her up in Charlotte and bring her to Greensboro (about 1.5 - 2 hr). If I can't find anyone for the Greenville to Charlotte leg, I'll drive all the way to Greenville myself. I just can't do the whole thing to Atlanta. If I'm REALLY lucky, I'll run across someone who is driving Atlanta to Charlotte for business during the week (or pleasure) and no one will have to make any special trips, the pooch can just hitch a ride. If anyone knows a person who travels that route, we could make it earlier than the weekend. I just figured if we are getting volunteers, people usually have more freedom on the weekend. But I'll come to Charlotte any time to pick her up, if we move it up. Thanks, everyone, for thinking about this. You'd kinda think, as many rescue organizations as there are, that there would be an organized transport system for them, wouldn't you??? |
Bumping this up again, to have it seen a lot before the weekend. Thx |
Awe...I wish I lived upstate more...I would totally help out :( Sorry :( Good luck in finding someone though!!! |
Good luck!:D |
Good Luck-Wish I could help |
Hey! I know this lady as she is a super go-getter for rescued Yorkies.... We here at YT have to have someone willing to do these legs! Come on you guys....Oh I wish I could still drive.......... |
Thanks for the kind words, Rustysmom. Cute lil pix of Rusty and Willie Nelson, BTW. :) I'm hoping to hear something soon about these legs of the trip with the little dog. I know with the price of gas these days, people are going to be less likely to do these runs, but this one is a young one, and has some health issues for which the shelter was going to euthanize her, so I'm really hoping for the best. Someone will come through.... they always do...... (we hope). :aimeeyork Give my best to Rusty, Cheyenne, and of course, to Willie Nelson, LOL |
I don't know if I can help - but I live in Charlotte.... I would offer to drive but just got a call from the girl in my office that she broke her ankle and will be out of the office for 4wks... so I will be chained to my desk. But if needed... I can keep the Yorkie until someone can pick her up... Susan |

Yikes, Susan.. I don't know if I'd rather be you or her, LOL. Being chained to your desk is no picnic, either. Thanks for the offer to "babysit" if needed. I'm pretty sure we WON'T need it, because if I can get her to Charlotte, I'll come pick her up myself. HOWEVER, I would never have guessed that she'd be "stranded" in Atlanta for a week either, so I'll keep your offer in mind, just in case. :) |
