Floppy ears.... [F]:animal36Ok...First I want to say that I LOVE my floppy eared furbaby!....But....are yorkies suppose to have floppy ears? At what age should the ears go up?....Should I be concerned?....anyway I was just curious;)[/FONT] |

Holly's ears were both up when I got her. They went down with teething. It has been a battle ever since. One was up for the longest time, then went down a week or so ago. I shaved them then taped both up for the last week, took the tape off and within 5 minutes both were floppy again. I give up. Floppy ears it will be and she looks cute as heck! |
Maximus is 1, and they never went up. They go up when he gets excited or is running around.:) |
1 Attachment(s) My Krissy has floppy ears and I would not change it for the world! |

I had one my first one with floppy ears. But hers were heavy and thick ears. It didn't matter what you did cut the hair or anything hers wasn't coming up. The others I have all have standing ears. Some I have had to tape but you have to cut the hair in the V and then tape and then untape and see if they will stand on there own. If not you have to retape it can take awhile. Depends on when they teeth and there will but some changes up and down on the ears during those times. |
1 Attachment(s) Amelia is about a year and a half and her ears are "undecided".... they are up mid way, and flop over at the tips! ;) |
1 Attachment(s) Bobby has floppy ears. I think they are cute! |
Duke's ears get floppy at the top if they get heavy. Lucie's ears were up and now they get a little floppy at the top sometimes, for the most part they stand. I think it's cute when their ears get floppy |
1 Attachment(s) I guess we are all in the same group....THE FLOPPY EAR CLUB....lol:2puppy:.....I love my ted just the way he is.....I was just curious if it was normal.....My hubby and I laugh because we joke and say if we cut all the hair off his ears maybe they would stand up...:D |
I love my Daisy's floppy ears. I think floppy ears are adorable! |
Floppy Ear club We have an adorable 6 month old girl called Mandisa (Mandy) for short. Mandisa stands for sweet in Egyptian... and that she is. Her ears are still floppy, but I have never tried the shaving or the sticks... I am with the rest of you ... I like her just the way she is! She was spayed, had a dew claw on the back leg removed, microchipped, and also had to have 2 baby teeth removed .... and all this past Thursday... I feel so mean. Finally she is a little back to herself today but still not eating much. She has truely given us such joy .... as a newcomer here, I have to say I have so much enjoyed your info and antics of this wonderful breed! Hi to all and will post a picture as soon as I figure out how to do it. Cheryl:aimeeyork |

Mayas were up from the beginning .... but I think it looks adorable when there down .... |
The first Yorkie I ever had "Moppett" had floppy ears. I tried taping and supporting them, but nothing worked. I then had to accept that she would forever have floppy ears. It made no difference, she was cuddly, loveable, adorable and all the other positive traits that Yorkies have. I knew she was destined for petdom - not showdom - but that was fine with me. :D |
1 Attachment(s) Buffalo is 5 months old and his ears are semi-floppy i would say, one stands up more than the other. Check for yourself. This was something i was wondering about too, im glad you posted this question! Attachment 235985 |

Buff loves you too  |
My first yorkie, Duke, had floppy ears until he was 9 months old. Then I was showed how to trim them. They POPPED right up. But I wasn't sure I liked them standing up. Now I find if I don't trim my yorkies ears they will lay down. So you can decide how you like them. Mostly I keep mine trimmed since it's standard. |

A standing joke here is that if i would cut the hairoff of teddys ears they would probably stand up....the hair is so long...lol |
*raising hand* COUNT ME IN! My little Gracie Girl is a floppy ear girl. I am out-voted at home as my DH and my son LOVE her floppy ears. I have taped them couple of times but then keep going back floppy. The good Lord made her unique and I love her so much! Honestly, the floppy ears add to her personality. :p |

I have three and two of them have floppy ears, with Chewy, my first, I did'nt know much of anything and left them how they were, with my second one Choupette, I had learned little more but it was too late for her, she was ten months, so floppy ears as well but when I got Tucson, I had learned how to tape them and his ears are up, but my other two are just as sweet looking and I find it adds character to them. So I feel I have the best of both. |
