Please keep Yoshi & MeiLing in your thoughts and prayer this morning... I just dropped them off to get their baby teeth extracted...i am so worried and nervous. Their appointment was actually on Wednesday but i postponed it until this morning because I wanted to be able to care for them afterwards...so that means I have the whole weekend too. Can anyone tell me what is to be expected after they are done? How will the react/act? Will the be under pain medication? I am going crazy right now...don't know what to think or do...all kinds of crazy thoughts running through my head! |
I haven't had a puppy in a very long time since my last two were adults when I got them 2 yrs and 3 yrs but this should be very simple. for something like that they only need a dash to put them under since it's over very quickly. I remember Crystal coming home after 9 adult teeth being pulled and she ate like nothing happened. I don't remember how old yours are but try to relax, this should be very easy on them. I will keep them in my prayers today.:heart to |
Phoebe was a little drowsy after her tooth cleaning, but only for a short period of time. other than that she was fine. |

I know and when they have their teeth cleaned or teeth pulled when spayed it is more of a worry but if this is the only thing they are doing, it should not take long. We worry though no matter what until they are back home. Let us know when they are home. Hugs, Joan |

Betty and Juju both had to have teeth extracted when they were getting spayed...one had 10 removed and one had 12 removed (I think...something like that, anyway). They were drowsy the first evening, but started to perk up the second day. AND, they did not have pain meds. They will be fine!! :D Good luck, Yoshi and MeiLing (and Mama!) |

Pebbles had 2 teeth extracted with her spay. I think she must be one tuff pup because she was hopping around when I went to pick her up, gobbled her food and no meds. Not what I expected at all. The groggy is from the length and how deep the sedation is during the surgery. The idea is to use the least amount of anesthesia for the best outcome. That is why some dogs will be very groggy while others are pretty alert. |

Gracie Ruth had her 2 top canine pulled during her spay, and honestly it didn't seem to bother her at all. She'd been teething for a few weeks before her appointment and I had been cracking her kibble (putting some in a sandwich baggie and hitting it with a hammer - good for taking out any frustrations too! :p ) I just continued to crack her food for a few more days and then noticed she was eating Boo's uncracked kibble so I stopped and she been doing great ever since. Never any need for pain meds from either the spaying or the teeth extractions. I really think they don't "feel" pain like we do. They don't seem to dwell on it so much. After 2 days she was up and running like nothing had happened and she was eating just fine. I'm sure your 2 will be a little drowsy for a day maybe two, but then they'll be right back in the thick of it. |

Gizmo had five baby teeth removed including his canines when he was neutered. I don't think the removal of the teeth bothered him much at all. I think it felt better not to have that pressure from the crowding, because he actually seemed to eat better than he had in awhile right after. I did stock up on soft food, but he went right to his kibble. :p We'll be sending positive, healing thoughts to your little ones this morning. :) |
