Lost Puppy Breath... now it smells like pee .. b/c hes always licking his pipi. :( i dont want to give him greenies, i just dont feel safe giving it to him. i was wondering what do u guys give or do besides brushing their teeth for a nice smelling breath.. oh im so sad .. ive noticed it disappeared about sunday but i think i was denying the fact that he did lose it .. oh what a sad day no more puppy breath.. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa:cry8: |
I know the feeling... TJ also used to make babies noises when he was sleeping and those too have disappeared. SO SAD... |
*bump* any advise on what to use or do??? :-\ |
If it is really bad, like poop smell or really foul breath, I do give them Quest Nylabone Nutri Dent, but only for a few minutes (10 max). If I can, I clean up the pp area after they pee and before they lick. Otherwise, I don't know what to do? |
ohhhhh i have that quest bone.. but again imma afraid that he might choke or things of the sort... but i will definitely try to give it to him under supervision... ughhhh hes always going down there and licking .. i feel like putting something there to block it .. sigh... i have to invent something :-\ the smell is more on the pee side .. its just not nice to smell when he licks me :-\ |
I know about the 'Greenie' craze/scare!!! I am at a toss up myself. But I am pleased with the ingredients of the Quest Nylabone Nutri Dent and I only give it to them under desperation - Bad Breath or if I have to brush my teeth or take a quick shower, etc. - and they have to be acting up under those circumstance as well, I use it as a means of keeping them still fo a max of 10 min) But, if you can I would watch when he pees and quickly clean him up! |
oh i do that all the time when im there and family memebers know to do this aswell... i used the puppy whipes or a damp paper towel and then dry himoff .. he just digs in there .. gross lol |
I think you have it better than I do... TJ licks himself. Roxy licks herself, and then lets TJ lick her too. They both eat poop! ...LOL |
About what age do they loose their puppy breath? Caleb has it, and I'm wondering when it will go away because it stinks. |
  :eyeballpc: oh no! thats terrible .. i think you beat me .. you do have it worse. oh gosh if my Chicle starts to eat his poo i will go crazy!! |

well Chicle turned 6mths on the 6th and i noticed his puppy breath was gone on sunday.. how funny i could pin point that day..HAHAHAHA how old is ur baby? |
Caleb will be 6 months on the 15th, hopefully that means it'll start to go away soon! |
What's the greenie scare?? I give my little tiny Coco a greenie, under my supervision of course. But she loves it!!!! She'll do anything for it and it keeps her puppy breath yummmmmmmmmmmy. Really, they can choke on anything. So don't deny them the yummy stuff. They can choke on carpet fibers, pieces of toys chewed off, ect. |
Oh no, I didn't mean it like there is an actual scare and I know that they can choke on anything. I am all for supervised greenies/nutri dents and other edible treats. My guys go nuts for their Nutri Dent, but I don't like to give it to them for too long and too often b/c they do seem to bite off a decent sized piece and their poop seem more appealing to them since there is traces of it in there. I have only given it to them a handful of times and I am still trying to figure out if TJ has a sensitive tummy to it, so I have to be more causious about that as well. |
well for me i tried the greenies and he had a bad tummy ache this was wayyyyyyyy back when i first got him... gastrointoritis (sp) so that is why im very cautious in giving him that. now has any one heard of BREATHALICIOUS? it looks like a greenie but itsnt .. or so the sales person told me.. i have one at home but havent given it to him yet.. anyone ?? |
Oh I know! I miss the puppy breath too, lol! The worst thing is, it goes from puppy breath to teething breath....and that's the most disgusting of all. It never will smell great ever again, but...it DOES get better after that horrible teething smell. Shewweeee, it was nasty! |
What are the symtoms of gastrointoritis? I have ups and downs with TJ. Sometimes I can get rock solid poop, them mushy poop, then rock, then diarreha, then rock, then his rear makes really loud girgiling noises, then mucus poop, etc... He does eat things he should not, like the walls, wood, paint, the couch, hair, bugs, cardborad, tape, wee pad plastic...oh and he got into a few pieces of cat food on Saturday. I really think that I have tried to puppy proof my home, but this ups and downs with the poop is just continuing to cycle. I do believe he has a sensitive tummy, I just don't know if something is wrong or his just eating bad things? |
well, when i took him tothe vet and i was diagnosed that his symptoms were throwing up, diarreha, and just very down.. although his appetite didnt change.. he still ate .. have u tried to spray bitter apple on surfaces that u dont want TJ to get too? this works for chicle he really cant stand it . |
I got this stuff called 'fuewy' (sp) the person at the Pet Store said this was better. I have sprayed it on a few things and it works, but days later I catch them back at the spot (maybe just inspecting, but I don't give them a chance). I have put a little tabaso on a few spots and this morning I tried the clear deordorant. WHen they are in their room I have put up pieces of cardboard wraped in sheets to block the areas (corner wall, moulders, the wood door, wood baby gate) that they have attacked before. TJ is teething right now. I actually found one of his teeth this mroning (it will probably be the only one I get). I have noticed that he is more chew active some days (probably on a day that he has a loose tooth or one is breaking up) but then other days, no chewing? I don't know, I am going to the Vet on Friday for TJ's neuter and I will talk to him again about all this stuff. It just seems like a poop roller coaster with TJ and I don't know if it is the types of food and treats I give him or if he is ingesting things that he should that is causing this. |
My question is... why do puppies have puppy breath?? Is it the mothers milk?? why does it go away?? Any ideas?/ But, for the bad breath I have used dog bisquits called " Breath Busters" They dont smell real good but he likes em and they DO work, they have small ones too, you can get then anywhere. |
They have doggie mints they sell at places like petco. |
