Should I or shouldn't I, and will it help.. Ive came to wits end with my dog Max. He is over a year old, and He is still peeing and pooping in his cage, He wont wine for me to know that he has to go outside. So when I take him outside, and a couple hours later, bring him in, he will go in his cage, and do his duty, How do I Stop It, or will it never stop? Another question is, Will getting him fix help? If so, I know it cost a lot to get a dog fixed, Is there any kind of help that anyone knows of that could assist me in getting him fixed? If you or anyone knows, please let me know. I was interested in breeding him, but I completely changed my mind after lots and lots of research, so getting him fixed, is what I want, but just can't afford, So please help me. Thanks so much... |
How large is his cage? Make is small enough that he is only able to turn around and lay down...no larger. It may be necessary to put something in there to limit the area. If you know what time he's pooping...take out outside specifically close to those times. Mine poop on a fairly regular schedule. If he goes outside...give him a treat. I'd treat him like a puppy and take him out hourly...pick a phrase such as go potty and reward him if he goes. Eventually he will understand what you expect him to do. Having him neutered will probably have no effect on the pottying issue. There are low cost neutering programs available. Contact your aspca and they should be able to give you the information. |
