Ok I will be bring my puppy home early Well my breeder has had a big problem pop up and I will be picking up my puppy earlier than expected, she will only be 8 weeks, but my breeders husband is in the hospital with a heart attack and now her daughter just went into premature labor and she will be leaving as soon as she can to go to her, her husband is supposed to be getting to go home in the AM. and her mother is going to help him as much as she can but she is quiet elderly, and my breeder does not believe that her mother or her husband can take care of the puppy. She says that she is eatting really well and she is going to be giving me her cell # and told me to call if I needed anything and she would help me. She took the puppy to the vet today and the vet said everything was good and that it should be ok for her to go. Please do not lecture me about the age, I just feel that I need to take her she was a only pup. I just hope that I can count on you guys and gals if I and when I need advice. Ya'll always are so helpfull when it is needed, and I am sure I will need the support. Thank Tess |
I don't see any reason why in this situation there is anything wrong with 8 weeks. I would rather you take the puppy at 8 weeks than have a heart attack patient and his elderly mother-in-law watching the pup (no offense to them, I'm just sure its too much to handle). I know 8 weeks is earlier than the preferred, but sometimes life just happens and we have to deal with it. Good luck and congratulations on your baby!!! |
Oh thanks I really can't wait now till tomorrow afternoon to get her home I am nervous though. |

good luck with your little baby:) I think it's better you take her now, that way she gets all of the attention she needs, with all that happened that family has a lot to focus on at the moment, luckily the puppy is at least 8 weeks and healthy right now! |
Thanks eveyone I am so excited that I can't sleep it is almost 1 am here. Blondeyorkiemom I have some nutrical for puppies Thanks though I think I have everything I can think of Crate toys blankets and a heating pad to put under her crate cause I keep my house around 73 at night with the ceiling fans on, I don't want her to get cold. If yall think of anything else let me know, oh and 'I have wee wee pads to. Tess |
Awe, I'm so sorry to hear that the breeder is having so many things go wrong right now, that's got to be so very hard. Sometimes things just cannot be helped, life happens and we just have to make the best of it. We'll be here for you to try and answer any questions you have and to help in any way we can. I really cannot see anyone being critical here, this isn't something that can be helped, no one plans on having a heart attack or giving birth prematurely. Best of luck to you, I'm sure your furbaby will do just fine, but we're here just in case ;-) |
That's good you ca get her and take care of her. I would rather she be with you than where she may not be able to get the attention she needs, due to unforseen circumstances. Just make sure you have nutrical and that she eats frequently. Watch her carfeully for any signs of hypoglycemia if she is not eating well. Congratulations |
I got Baxter when he was 8 weeks. We've never had any problems. (other than he is spoiled rotten) He is now 7 months, 7 lbs. Good luck. |
I dont' see anything wrong with 8 weeks...as long as they have been eating on their own and healthy...every situation is different...can't wait to see pictures! |

hi yall I am so ready to cry My breeder called this AM and said she was at the vets that my puppy Mylie has had a little diarehea(sp) not much and that she is not running any fever but she wanted to get her check out again just to make sure she is good she is going to stay home for a few days before leaving to go to her daughters the baby is doing Ok at the moment. I'm sure she will be fine. It sounds like she's in good hands, since she cares enough about the puppy to stay home for awhile to see that she is cared for properly before leaving. Try not to worry.:) |
She might be having diarrhea due to the current stress in the breeder's household? Also when she goes to you in her new home you can probably expect that as well seeing as she will be adjusting to her new environment. I would also recommend getting Goats Milk Esbilac for her during her first few days with you. Goat's milk is for puppies with sensitive digestive systems. Highly digestible source of protein and energy. Carefully formulated to match nutrients and taste of mother’s milk, use for orphans or to supplement mother’s feedings. |
