collars so i want to get abby a collar thingy already with her info. i was watching "its me or the dog" and the lady said u shud never put the dog's name on the collar cuz it won't look suspicious if a starnger picks her up and calls her by her name. i was planning on putting her name, my address, n my cell phone #. wat do u guys use?? |
Info not her name Ours has tags that have our vet info but they are also microchipped so we can be contacted....as with anyone who finds a dog you just have to hope they are a good person and want the dog to be back with the owner |
I was also told not to use their name. My yorkie's says: REWARD, our address and phone #. |
If someone really wants to find out your dogs name all they would have to do is listen to you at a dog park where u r very likely to use your dogs name or even walking if you talk to your dog useing there name. A lot of people ask your dogs name at least they do to me and a lot of the time I think nothing of it and tell them. Callie would go to a stranger whether they called her name or not she just absolutly loves people! Callie wears a collar all the time except when bathing and she has her rabies tag and a little pink heart with her name on it and my phone number. |
My cell number, also you can use lic id tag and/or the home again tag:aimeeyork |
I have tags on both of mine on their collars with name and cellphone. When they wear their harness they have a tag on there as well. I use my cell number not home phone~my reasoning is if either were lost I would be out looking and not sitting by the phone waiting for a call. |
My dogs have their names on their collars with my home phone numbers.. and that exact thing happen to me...my dog took off on my dog walker and we were all out looking for him..he had been found and the person had called my house and left a message of course no one was there to get the message... Luckily she called the police who contacted the ranger who was helping us... One of my dogs tags says needs meds...he is my MVD dog and hope that if he was ever missing they would return him...because of that...but you never know... |
It's a good point, but like someone else said on here already -my little guy is super friendly and loves people, so he would go up to anyone - regardless of if they even called him. But I think I need to have new tags made up with my cell number on them! |

My little Kaylah doesn't like to wear a collar, or anything around her neck. I am seriously thinking of getting a microchip implanted, but I need to read up on it a little more. |
ok well i guess i will put their name on it anyway. Abby will literally go up to anybody n play with them, we just got Jack on saturday but i can notice he's alittle more reserved. I guess i'll also put my name and cell phone #. Abby also has the home again tag. is it ok to put more than one tag on???? |
Our outside dog wears 3 tags. We live in the country and he took up with us 5 years ago and has it too good to roam to far from home! Baxter chewed up the nice plastic tag I had for him while it was on him so I get a new metal one from the vet. He is also microchipped but I think I would get a call a lot quicker with the tag on him. I still plan to get one of the collars with our number embroidered in to it as soon as he stops chewing up everything in sight. so that may be never. |
