Worried  Hello All, I have a 7 month old female Yorkie, at the time I bought her (for my daughter) we did notice she had a VERY bad overbite, although she is a very happy and loving animal, she is very thin, it seems she may have difficulty eating I am not sure but I am just guessing since she is so thin. I have been giving her soft food in hopes that she will put on a lil weight. Can someone share your thoughts with me? Please & thanks much |
Some dogs with overbites do have difficulty eating and must have their bite corrected with orthodontics.... |
Worried Thanks much for your reply, I never heard of dogs needing braces :p but I will take her back to the Vet and see what they can do. Thanks again :) Quote:

Here is some information for you: Pet Orthodontics - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! |
I just have a couple questions when she had the kibble did she choke while eating it When you fed her was it gone in 10 or 15 min. Also Important to feed a quality food not something from the grocery store but a pet shop. We can give you some ideas on quality food if you think that might be the problem. If you do change food be sure to do it gradually by adding a little of the new each day and taking away some of the old until it is all new. A thin yorkie always (one where you can feel their ribs)always makes me think of liver shunt and maybe should be tested for it. Your vet will give you more information and tell you if he thinks that could be the problem. If you google 'liver shunt' you can read about it and I think get info by a 'liver shunt in yorkshire terrier' google also. She could be just so full of energy or have a thyroid problem. Good Luck and keep us updated. Joan |
