Ponytail Hi, I Am Kind Of New To This Forum. I Have Being Searching For Some Answers, And So Far, Has Gotten All Of Them, Except, A Couple; Like How To Make Your Yorkie Acept The Bow On Her Head. Trixie, My 15 Week Yorkie Will Fight Against It, And Get It Off With Her Front Paws. What Should I Do? |
I bought some of those tiny little rubber bands that Aria products sell and some off of Ebay, and Gwen seems to leave those alone...or she can't get them off so she just messes them up and leaves them alone I should say. I have kept something in her hair since she was about 8 weeks old and now that she's almost 13 weeks she just kind of accepts it...although she doesn't like me putting them in. I figure if I can can get her used to them now I will have less of a fight on my hands when she is bigger and stronger. Good luck! |
This website has some helpful hints on getting your dog to wear a bow. It also recommends a two-band method of typing the topknot with the bow on a third band, in between the other bands. They can't get the bow out if you attach it this was. Other hints include using the lighter weight baby bows at first. Casual Way to Put Dog Bows In. Just make sure the whole thing isn't too tight. |
I don't do bows in my girls' hair but I have read lots of posts where members just laugh and say that their little girl is a tomboy and won't wear bows. They just give up. Since your baby is so young, maybe you can keep trying and she will eventually get used to it. Otherwise........you might have to just laugh and say she's a little tomboy.:D:D:D |

Get some lightweight grooming bands and start with just getting her used to having her head brushed and wearing a topknot with a little band only. If you put her up on something like a washing machine or countertop if you don't have a grooming table, she will be much more cooperative. After you've put her little topknot in, give her a kong or a chew toy to distract her so she is too busy to try to get the topknot out. After she has learned to tolerate her hair in bands, it's time to add a little bow. I always recommend that my customers use bands instead of barrettes because of the choking hazard. |
