Need Advice.. Please My 9 month yorkie is fully potty trained. He goes out side and holds it with out going on the floor. My problem is i leave for work every day for about 8 hours 7-4. I leave him in the bathroom (wich is big) with his bed and toys. If i leave a pee pad in the bathroom he destroys it. shreds it to pieces. i have tried taping it to the floor, buying a pee pad holder. Nothing works. Every day he pee's on the floor, same spots. He now is pooping on the floor and i think he is eating it. I dont know if i should start making him poop on the pad again. If thats possible. Or will even work. Any suggestions would be helpful. |
Is there any way you could have someone come in and take him out to potty during the day, even if it is just once? Depending on where you live, there are lots of pet sitting services. Maybe a retired neighbor? |
Sorry to hear about what is happening. Every once in a while Leo does this too. I keep him in an xpen when hubby & I go to work and the kids are in school. I can fit the bed, a few toys and a pee pad in the xpen. It helped by making a smaller area for him. However, during the summer months while the kids are home with a sitter he does his business outdoors. Good luck. |
If you live in a house or something with a backyard have you considered a doggy door so he can let himself out? Duke has run of the house when we leave, and when I have day classes and he is left, he tends to pitch fits and pee on the floor even when a potty pad is out, he pees somewhere else..it's his way of getting back at me I guess:confused: Doggy doors can be expensive, but if they learn how to use it, it can be a life saver. |
Until Tink was trained to go potty on the pad or outside, she had to stay in her little crate if I was not home. It was big enough for her to stand up in and turn around and that's all. Now that she doesn't soil her crate, she has a crate big enough for 4 dogs! She never soils it and I know she's safe when I leave her to go to work or for any reason. I strongly recommend crate training. It worked for us.:) |

9 months old is still a little young for trying to hold all day. Have you tried using the cloth wee wee pads? He may be bored and ripping the pad is a release for him. 8 hours is a long day for him. Do you have a friend that would be willing to check on him during the day? Have you also tried leaving a radio on for him to keep him company? :animal-pa |
Yes, I would definitely try the washable potty pads. I had that problem until I switched over. |
need advice too!! I don't know if I am in the right place to post this request for help but here goes!! Lily was born March 12th. and I've had her since she was 9 weeks old. She has been in WV her whole life so far!! I go back to Az. in Sept. and she will be going with me!! My question is about changing houses with her and the "potty issues" etc. She goes outside here in the grass in a plastic expen and sometimes on washable pee pads in the house. When we are in Az. there will be no grass in the yard for her to go potty in and the yard is fenced in but she can probably get out through the gate so I'll have to do something?? Should I buy another expen like the one I use here for her to go outside and potty?? Do ya all think this will be a big problem at her age and she will not be potty trained there?? She has been doing pretty good lately here and we won't be leaving for another month!! She is not good in a crate at all and never was. She does ride in the car now w/out getting sick so I hope she is good flying. I hope she is ok with the big change!! I have appt. to have her spayed about 10 days after we get there because she will be 6 months old then. Any advice or opinions would be very helpful right now!! THANKS!! |
doors I am leery of doggie doors..to many are hurt and stolen while the owner is gone. I guess it would depend on how much yard they have and where you live. |
