Coping with the loss of my Yorkie" I was the proud owner of three yorkies. Last year I lost my 13 yr. old Silky, Meggie, to bladder cancer. Last Wednesday I lost my 13 yr old male Yorkie Peanut, to enlarged liver, bladder problems. I have been trying to cope. I had both these Yorkies since they were puppies. Tina, which is the baby and the one left behind doesn't know what happened. Anybody out there with suggestions? She hunts for him daily. She did the same for Meggie, but not as bad. It tears my heart out. She is 6 yrs. old and has never been alone, even though she ruled the other two. She was the "Queen Bee" and she let them both know it. She was the smallest, but I didn't tell her.......She is not eating well and the Vet wants to put her on meds. if she doesn't eat soon. I would appreciate any suggestions you MOMS might have to help her. Watching her is making my grief much harder to get through. Thanks to all.:animal-pa |
oh hun I am so sorry for you loss. I know how hard it is. I lost Lilly last year and I still hurt and cry over her. I'm so sorry your baby is also feeling the loss. Do you have any friends or family with furkids? Maybe exposing her to other furkids will help her heal. Oh, my heart goes out to you (((hugs))). Do you plan on adding another baby? |
I'm so sorry for what you and your baby are going thru. I was thinking the same thing as Timmy about finding someone who has babies your little one can play with. If it's possible and as soon as you feel up to it maybe you can add another addition to your furfamily. I wonder if doggie counseling is something to consider. I don't know much about it but I've heard that some people use it to help in different situations. I hope some healing will come to you both very soon. In loving support, roxie and roxies_mom |
Bless her little heart, she doesn't understand what has happened. Even though Mandy had Tina when Max passed away last year, she grieved something terrible. It broke my heart and I was grieving too. We ended up getting another puppy (our first yorkie) and she really pulled Mandy out of it. They are now best buds. Hope everything gets better soon. It is so hard losing one that it just rips your heart out. God bless you and little Tina. |
Thank you. It is so hard. They are my babies. I am not planning on getting another yorkie now. Tina is very attached to me, (the one in the pic.) She would not except a new one very easily. I take her with me everywhere. She went to California with me last year. She was the hit of the plane. I am a younger widower and have a daughter in Cali. a son in Georgia, so I may travel for a while. Thanks again. |
I am so sorry. It is such a hard time. I, too, was going to suggest a playmate. (hug) |
Poor little baby, she's feeling the loss just as much as you are. I am saddened to hear about your loss. I hope others have good advice for you. |
Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. This must be heartbreaking. My only idea would be to set her up on doggie play-dates? Maybe through friends/neighbors, your vet or even a group obedience class. Maybe if she makes some doggie friends she won't be so depressed. Just a suggestion. This must be tough, and my heart goes out to both of you. |
Since you dont want to get another, Just take her more places and do more things with her to get her away from the house until she kind of gets over the loss. The more she is away from the house the less she will search for him. Maybe that would help. So sorry for your loss, It is a shame they dont live as long as long as we do. |
I am so sorry for your loss, but I would like to welcome you to YT. I'm sure that you'll find some good ideas here. Yorkies are so sensitive to everything. I continue to be amazed by how very intelligent they are. |
Mommy's always want to take the pain and hurt away from the ones we love. I am so sorry that you have gone through this two times in such a short time. |
My heart goes out to you, no one wants to get to that day....Hoping you both find peace ...:littleang |
I have to agree with Breezeaway. You could also take away any bedding, clothes, toys, food dishes and everything that belonged to or has Peanuts smell on them. Clean house so to speak and keep your baby out of the house as much as you can and get her into a playdate with other little ones. Next, broil her a nice steak. Anything to get her eating. |
sorry Sorry about your lost... Traveling maybe nice if you can visit family and keep the little one as busy as possible.. |
So sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is when your grieving and then you watch your pet grieve. It takes time. She will adjust, but she does feed off of you. Perhaps you can entice her to eat with some chicken added to her food or something healthy but tempting. Hugs to you  |
