Puppy getting busy with toy monkey This is kind of embarrasing but my five month old female yorkie seems to have developed a fond, if not strange, attachment to her stuffed squeaky monkey toy. It just seems odd that she's still a pup and sort of humping the monkey. I mean, really getting into it. Plus, she's a girl. I'm very confused. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!! mb |
Be glad!!! My breeder gave me a teddy bear with Chachi and he humps it. My breeder told me to be glad that probably he would only hump that and not other things like your legs. |
Thanks for your response! I see Chachi is a boy. Don't you think it's odd about my dog because she's a girl? |
Ahhh Humping...Sammi is a 20 month old spayed female and STILL HUMPS!! :) It makes great convo when you have company...:) From what I am told it has to do with dominance... Good Luck! Fran and Sammi |
I just found my girl humping my teddy bear yesterday. I had never seen her display this type of behavior, it was kind of cute but a little weird. Maybe she was doing something else, but I always thought of myself as someone who can distinguish between humping and playing... |
My female doesn't hump but Ive heard on here other people who said their females hump. |

Well it seems like it's not unknown for girl yorkies to do. So, I feel a bit better. Still, it is a bit disconcerting to see her... The idea that it has to do with dominance sounds interesting. I'll have to look into that and do some online researching. :) mb |
[QUOTE=Fran42478] :) It makes great convo when you have company...:) LOL. My friends and I have added another line to "you know you're a redneck when".......you spend time watching your dog hump something and laughing.... |
so weirded out I've only seen her do it once, and that was yesterday. So I thought "Hey she's just pushing the bear back with her hind legs, like playtime." But thanks for bursting that bubble Sam..haha..so my cute, fluffy, fufu, well dressed, well scented, well mannered dog is HUMPING  |

And for those that still can't tell.....Trace is more than willing to come over and give demonstrations.....with animate or inanimate objects....LOL |

Oh you have to see Sammi...If I say to her "Sammi, where's Oliver" she goes right over to her "humping bear" Oliver and humps away!! She is FRESH!!! She sometimes gets out of breath and we ask her if she needs a cigarette :) LOL!!! Fran and Sammi |
Chachi did it when he was real young and also started back up since hes been neutered. |
:lol tears :lol tears :lol tears :lol tears I am laughing to hard I'm crying....I don't want to accept that she's humpy girl. I think if Trace came over, for a demonstration, we would have a humpfest. |

After she's had her way with the monkey we've made jokes like... "Where's Buffy? Having a cigarette?" Or, when she's ferverishly searching around for the monkey we ask her, "Hey, Buffy, where's your boyfriend?" I googled "female dog toy humping" and came back with a lot of hits. As a fellow lister mentioned it could be a dominance issue or obsessive behavior, or, maybe she's just a hussy. ;-) |

NO ONE can touch Magilla and if her little sister Cheri tries to put the moves on Magilla AND Chanel catches her - Cheri is smart enough to know to RUN ...Magilla is ONLY Chanel's and there is no sharing her boyfriend :D They go thru phases where they get that urge and then it's over - I wouldn't worry about it too much - I think it's hilarious. |
I had a female who always humped her "puppy" (a stuffed puppy about her size) She seemed to outgrow it after awhile. My little boy (he's 2 and neutered) has a "tickle-me Elmo" for his pleasure. And he seems to have it down very well, with Elmo giggling and saying "ooh that tickles" I have heard also that it's a domination type of thing, not a sexual one. I just don't keep Elmo out when there is company, so he does it in private. |

Villette that is funny. That is how Chachi is about his teddy bear. He has a doggie fit if anyone touches it. |
Well, it seems like this is what doggies can do, although I feel like a prude! ;-) For fellow red-faced folks....this web site had info on how to discourage that sort of behavior". http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Con...=1&SourceID=47 And the site has some advice: Correcting a dog in a harsh manner for humping is not necessary and can create problems worse than the humping. Work with the dog to develop several behaviors the dog will perform on cue, such as sit, down, come, fetch, go to a spot and settle calmly, go find a toy to chew, and any trick the dog enjoys doing for a reward. The list of alternative behaviors can be endless. Vary which behavior you cue as a distraction from humping. This keeps your intervention interesting for the dog, and helps avoid encouraging new obsessions. |
