How do you keep your Yorkie's face from getting wet when he eats? Maggie is on wet food now, and the fur on the sides of her face are constantly hanging in her food when she eats. Is there a solution? I tried clipping her hair back, that didn't work - i thought about a snood, but that doesn't look like it would help with the fur close to her nose. What about one of those bowls with a 4" hole, that's the smallest diameter I could find, and it seems like 4 inches would still let a lot of her face hang in the food. Surely there is something that would help with this. I wash her face with a washcloth, but unless there is some kind of soap/shampoo on it, it doesn't really clean the food residue off, just gets it wet. I can't shampoo her face after every meal. Help, please. Jan |
I use huggie wipes after they eat to wipe their face. I know that show people put rubber bands and tie back their beards to keep the hair from getting broken. Hope this helps. |
My Suzi does this all the time when she drinks water. However, since water is not like food, I just let her dry off. You can these wipes that are especially made for dogs. I've used them before. :aimeeyork |
We use the wipes, too. BUT, i do know someone that used to feed their little Lhasa with a small fork.. one piece at a time.. to avoid a "messy face"!! :D |
My Yorkies faces get wet when they drink, but not when they eat. One thing that helped is getting bowls that are made for cats and sit up higher, like about 2 1/2 inches from the floor, that way their beards don't get in the food. But I haven't figured out, short of banding the hair back, how to avoid this when they drink water. The cat bowls are stainless and about 4 inches in diameter, and a about 1 inch deep and sit 2 to 3 inches off the floor. |
