Shyloh Fell In The Pool! :eek:Don't worry I was there and my husband was right there and got he out immediately. She is only 15 weeks old. We have only had her for 1 week and she is not familiar with the pool. She was following my husband who was working around the pool and she slid right in. I have had 5 incidents were my puppies have fallen in the pool. I have gone in clothes and all!:animal-pa Had I or my husband not been there we would have certainly lost our precious babies. PLEASE always remember to watch your babies accidents, my my puppies are always playing and not paying attention to where they are going. I may not always feel like it, but I always go! WATCH YOUR BABIES GUYS!!!!! |
My maltese fell in our pool. I was right beside him, so I scooped him out quickly. We had just shocked the pool, so I was concerned about the chemicals on his delicate skin. I took him inside and shampooed him in some gentle conditioner and rinse, rinse, rinsed!! |
Thank goodness you were there and she's okay. I always watch mine like a hawk. They are not allowed outside if I'm not there with them. I know I might be picky but I don't even let them out even if my kids which are older say they'll watch them. |
If you have a pool...I'd highly suggest getting a scamper ramp and teach them where it is. Just in case... |
Scamper ramp .....never heard of it! Where do I get it? I plan on teaching them to swim. We have already taught Bella. A large part of the steps is a shallow play area for my children, Bella knows to swim to this area to get out. But this knew puppy (Shyloh) Doesn't look like she knows how to swim. I thought they all knew how to swim! Jag Can swim a little but he a little on the heav side so he tends to sink. lol Scamper ramp is definately a must!:animal36 |
Loads of websites offering scamper ramps.... scamper ramp - Google Search Dogs instinctly know how to swim, however, some are better swimmers than others. Ramsey and Reese are calm, cool, collective swimmers. Reggie is a manic swimmer....eventually he wears himself out and his hind end sinks down. |

I put my boys in their lifejackets when we go out in the pool area. They are 3 years old and know the pool but they get riled up when the kids are in and run around and have fallen in a few times w/o jackets on. So now I put on their jackets. I also never let them out there w/o me there to watch them like a hawk. That would be such a tragic accident to lose them that way. Glad your baby is ok! :) |

If you have a pool it should be completely fenced in! Not only do animals drown in them but so do neighborhood children. We had a pool for a long time when our girls were younger as well as my Yorkie Misty Blue. The pool area was fenced in with a locking gate before the pool was even finished. |
When I read these posts I am so impressed at the care and effort you all go to to keep your babies safe. YT is a great source of info. Joanne |
