Peeing too much? I walk Nico at 4:50 am, 5:50 am and 6:45 am, he pees about three times on our first walk, two on the second and lifts his leg at least 8 times on the third (that is our longest walk in the morning). On the last walk I notice that 5 out of the 8 times a good amount of pee somes out and on the last three lifts its really nothing. Then this morning we got back in and he peed a good amount on the floor. His water is limited, he only gets water when he asks for it (he goes by where the bowl is and sits and waits for it). Does anyone think he needs to see the vet? Thanks. |
If you are concerned about it , you should have him checked by your vet . When I take walks with Nathan and Frimousse , I remarked that Frimousse was peeing more than Nathan . I went to the vet with her , they said she had nothing at all , she just like to mark her territory . |
What does his diet consist of? If we feed jake something that has a high salt content, he will pee ALOT. Even if he doesnt drink much. |

Dogs do not need water down all day especially if they are in air conditioning all day. If I left water down with him all day he would pee all over the place as he is not yet 100% housebroken. He gets water in the after noon when my husband gets home and then he gets walked and gets access to water for the rest of the evening. |
You might be confusing marking with peeing. Joey lifts his leg on walks and marks many different times, it's a tiny amount, and sometimes you can't see anything. Even dogs who are neutered like to mark on walks, but Joey doesn't mark in the house. He does pee in the house on pee pads. |
I would take him to the vet. he may have a urinary infection. My JRT started peeing a lot for no reason, we took him to the vet and they gave him antibiotics. Rationing water is not the solution. Dogs should be able to drink whenever they are thirsty. |
First of all I do not ration his water, they dont need water all day. I think he pees to much and he is going to the vet. Thanks for all your responses. |

I would very kindly advise you to *not* restrict his water like this. You could be endangering his health. In the long run, this will not "teach" him how to be potty trained. :( |
I think what she meant is he has it in the morning afternoon and evening , just not limitless access to it. atleast thats what i am guessing at |

Another thing to check for is diabetes. My son has Type 1 diabetes and one of the symptoms at onset is being very thirsty and frequent urination. I don't know if dogs have the same symptoms but they do get diabetes. |
my bad she did say only when he ask for it, sorry my suki doesnt speak so i just leave it out when im home |
peeing Is he neutered..if not he is most likely marking. A few drops here and a few drops there...and lots of leg cocking on outings and no pee at all..quite common in males. My males used to make use they saved enough pee for each tree, fence post and mail box..important to leave no tree unpeed on... |
I agree...It sounds like your baby is marking his territory. I would not restrict the water intake even if he pees too much. They do need access to water. |
