Hi Everyone Hi Folks, I have to be honest because my motives for joining the forum is concern over an incident with my Yorkie. Zipper is a 2yr old male, the love of his life is Gracie, my 4yr old boxer. They are inseparable and play constantly. Last night during play Zippy let out a pitiful wail and stiffened his whole body. I picked him up and held him. He was not unconscious, and gradually seemed to recover. He seemed like it scared him badly. He went to his bed and stayed there all night. This morning he was his normal self. During this incident he did not drool, urinate, defecate or anything. He panted a little but that was it. Anyone who has experienced something like this, your advice would be welcome..Jack |
Sounds like he just got a bit hurt if the play was rough & tumble & it shocked him a bit. He seems to be ok now from what you say, just keep an eye on him. I have some bigger dogs along with my yorkies & sometimes the play gets a bit hectic....it's always one of my yorkies who's the ring leader! :D Welcome to the forum :) xx Meggie |
I don't have any words of wisdom...but you'll get some here soon. You've come to the right place. Certainly hope Zipper is ok now. Welcome to Yorkie Talk! |
Thank you so much, I am inclined to agree with your opinion. Let's hope that's what it was...Jack |
Due to the stiffining of the body I would be concerned, maybe a call and vet and see what they think? |
I had something similar happen with my 15 year old bichon. He was sleeping and woke up with a large yelp (the like of which I've never heard from him before) and he stiffened up and panted heavily for a few minutes. I told the vet and he gave me all the stuff and info that I need in case it was a seizure but it has never happened again. I believe now that he had a bad nightmare if that is possible. Maybe they were playing too rough and your baby was hurt or scared. They sure can scare the daylights out of you these little furbabies. |
Welcome to YT! :wavey: I might consult with the vet - seems the stiffening is a concern. |
Welcome to YT.... Maybe during their play time, your boxer might have hit a nerve or something, similar to our funny bone.... I would deffinately watch him close for any other signs, and if he does anything else take him to your vet...:aimeeyork |
welcome to YT and I have to agree sounds like maybe he got hurt a bit and decided to sleep it off himself. I'm happy to hear he is okay now though! |
Welcome to YT!! The stiffening part would concern me... |
:animal36 Welcome to YT. How is your little guy doing now? :jump28ib: :yorkiesar:jump28ib: |
