Question about AKC names Are there any rules for naming as far as using kennel names? For example, Max's AKC name is Durrer's Southern Charm. From his pedigree, it does not appear that either parent was from Durrer's kennel. In fact, the closest Durrer is his great-great-great-great grand dams/sire. How did he end up with Durrer's in his name? |
The only way he should have Durrers as the prefix in his name is if Betty Anne Durrer owned the dam and bred her outside of her line. Your dog would than be from Canada. Registered kennel names are not supposed to be used without permission. |
There are various rules and regulations a kennel must follow to register their kennel name. Including showing in AKC events. Once a kennel name has been registered...AKC is suppose to prohibit anyone else using that kennel name in any part of a dog's registration and like ladyhawk explained...written persmission of the registered kennel name owner must be given. |
I'm confused as to what you guys are talking about? |
