Floppy eared Mia Well, she is losing teeth and her ears which have been up on their own since about 6 wks are getting 'loose'. Her right ear is getting rather droopy and now flops when she runs. It is too cute! But, I assume when teething is done it will go back up. She is also getting quite a lot of hair on them. Maybe time for an ear trim? Do you trim the top 1/3 on the edges? |
Yes that is correct, the upper 1/3 of the ears are trimmed smooth. The safest and easiest way I have read is with mustache trimmers to do the trimming. Me personally am too gun shy to trim Schatzie so it get's done at the groomers. It is amazing just how much weight that hair carrys on their ears.... I always think the Yorkie's are cute with floppy ears too though... :p |
I wait until my puppy has worn himself out and is too tired to move and then I hand him over to my mom and she holds him and I trim his ears and paws. At first he will try to scoot away, but it is soooo cute because he falls asleep in the funniest positions. |
Gracie is 11 weeks and her ears aren't up yet! I trimmed them about 10 days ago and while they seem to be starting to go up, they aren't there yet. Is there an age where that happens? I've read so many different things...some say 6 weeks, some say 6 months! |
I trim mine with a horse fine trimmer. It's the size of the moustache trimmer, just goes faster. Love it! My dogs ears went up around 16 weeks and never went down again. I still trim the ears, though. |
