We are Back Hello All- Well, after a very stressful spring and early summer, things are settling down and Stanford and I are back. He is doing great-sassy and up to 6 lbs. Has become even more affectionate and loving. I got him a set of stairs for getting up onto the bed, so he is getting more independent as well- a good thing for "younger" seniors. We were all very stressed from about May-June. My old Escort caught on fire while I was driving down the road- so no car. School ended for the semester, so no more paycheck. I was, quite frankly, literally at the end of my rope. The animals kept me distracted and centered, but I was still freaking out. Then my aunt called, and said she wanted to buy me a decent used car! So I flew to Dallas, and drove back in a 2004 VW Jetta. Then a employer who had turned me down for a job I really wanted in May (but I was a "close second") called me back and said the person they hired had walked out after one day-so I became employed. Needless to say, I am much more relaxed these days. I am now working in Corrections. I work with inmates in a local medium security prison, doing therapy and case management. I really enjoy my job. So that is us. Thanks to those of you who wrote privately...it made a difference, although I was too wigged out at the time to notice. My other announcement is that, due to the age of both dogs, they can no longer be on the topical flea treatment. The big dog got Flea Allergic Dermatitis despite having the topical stuff on. Very nasty case. Stanford was using Promeris, but began to develop very dry and raw skin in the spot I had put it. Vet said that as they age, some dogs do not respond to the treatment, and it may irritate their skin. They are now on Comfortis- a pill that is given once a month. Works great, no issues and no fleas. BUT I NOW HAVE 4 MONTHS WORTH OF PROMERIS (for dogs up to 10 lbs) THAT IS UNUSED. I WOULD LIKE TO OFFER IT TO A MEMBER WHO IS IN NEED. Works great for younger dogs- vets says any dog under about 8 or 9 would be optimal. IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE THESE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WILL PAY FOR SHIPPING TO YOU. This is almost 80.00 in meds that are unopened- 4 tubes. So if anyone is in need (financial or otherwise), let me know and I will ship it off to you asap. I will get some pics of Stanford up here in a few days. Glad to be back! |
Glad to hear that you are doing great! I guess it shows, being patient in a situation pays off!! Congrats on your new car and Job! |
Guess that old saying, "Good things come to those that wait" really applies, doesn't it. I hope your year continues on an upswing for you. :) |
Everything happens for a reason and it appears things are looking up for you and your family. :congrats: on your new car and job! Is the topical a medication? Has anyone tried the all-natural clove treatment to keep fleas off our babies? |
Back, and high time!! :p Matthew, I am so happy that you are back and that things have turned around for you. I think it's been a pretty crappy summer for lots of us but I pray daily that things will be better and I know in my heart that they will! Give little Stanny big hugs from us and we are looking forward to hearing all about your adventures with your two babies!! Welcome back!:thumbup: |
Nice to see you back! |
Welcome back Mathew!!! |
Yes, things DO get better Thanks all, for the kind words. Amazingly enough, I stood by the car as it finished smoking and flaming, and was not the least bit perturbed. I had accumulated stress later on, which did me in temporarily. But things DO turn around. I am sorry to hear that some of you are having a hard time right now. The economy and the state of our nation just sucks at this point. Don't forget about the Promeris offer. 80.00 worth is not much, but if it can help stretch a budget, it is worth it. The vet won't take it back, as the box is opened. But the individual tubes are still as good as new, unopened. |
Welcome back! :) |
Glad your back! And so glad Stanford is getting along well. As you recall both of our seniors had the same issues. My Sami is back to her old self too. Hope your road will be less bumpy from now on out.:animal-pa |
Welcome back! :) |

Matthew, Good to see you post! Glad to here Stanford is doing well, despite the lesson learned for skin conditions with your dogs. Congrats on the new job and car. There is always a reaon for everything and now it seems your blessings are finding you. How generous of you to offer to help a YTer with flea meds, I'm sure if you look at all the threads with those dealing with flea issues, you will find a worthy recipient of your gift |
Welcome back! |
