Why they are called men...I will never know So I have this problem with my husband and my babies. He likes to pick on my babies and he finds it to be the highlight of his day. He puts socks over their head, encourages each other to fight, and uses his SWAT tatics around the house just so he can get the all wind up and barking. And the worst part is he LAUGHS HIS BUTT OFF!!! I work full time, am a full time paramedic student and am not home that often. So they spend alot of time with their dad. Has anyone else had this problem with their "wonderful, loving husbands/boyfriends"? And what can I do to make it stop? |
Hmmmm, most effective training method for husbands....with hold the...treats. If you know what I mean....;) You know some of what he's doing I'd consider cruel and encouraging fighting or barking...is developing behaviors you really don't want. |

Hey, hey , hey, It's not only dads that do this. In my house Mommy is all about running around and getting my baby all hyper. I have to remind her what kind of baby we want. She normally stops for an hour, but can't help herself. I also want to add that witholding "treats" is just plain ol' cruel, some may even say evil. And we all know whos evil... |

Some men tease dogs and this can cause them to become mean and aggressive. If that isn't reason enough, I don't know what is. |
All kidding aside, you need to have a heart to heart with your husband. Sit down with him and have one of those "dreaded talks." You know, you say, honey, I really need to talk to you about something, when would be a good time for you? Make sure he has your full attention and tell him what the problem is. He is just interacting with the dogs in a way that he thinks is fun and playful, and he doesn't understand that he might be causing a serious aggression problem with the dogs later. Explain to him that you just love the fact that he is such a good father, and takes such good care of the dogs, but this type of interaction isn't good for them. Playing fetch, walking, trick training are all better ways for him to interact with the dogs. You might want to read this link that explains why roughhousing with dogs isn't a good idea.
