questions to ask for lp surgery I am going to make an appointment to meet with the orthopedic surgeon for Taz soon. He is about a year and a half and started limping on his back leg about a year ago. The vet didn't think it was lp for almost 4 months, she couldn't move his knee cap easily manually. Had xrays to rule anything else out and we tried to rest him and eventually when he was there she did say that she could now get his kneecap to move. Now it seems to do it quite a bit more when he walks. He runs and jumps like crazy but it seems to do it more when he walks. So now I think it's time to get if fixed. What should I ask them about the surgery? Anything specific that I should be looking for that they do or don't do? Also he had bloodwork done before he was fixed last summer, should he have it done again? Thanks |
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby. I have never run across this (thank God) so I don't know what to tell you. But I just wanted you to know that I will be praying for a good surgery and fast recovery. |
I went through bilateral LP surgery with Gracie. The best thing you can do is ask about the risks and benefits, what happens if baby does not have the surgery, and what to expect during the post-op period? Do some searches here on LP. I posted a lengthy thread or two with a day in the life during Gracie's post-op period. Don't want to scare you, but it helps to know what to expect. This is not something to be taken lightly. |
