Possibly adopting a rescue!! Help!!!! Hey!! I have a question! I am always searching the yorkie rescue sites just to see what is on there. I always read all the stories and all that. But I have only inquired once on one, but that was it. Well the other day I found one and my heart melted. The poor little guy is the same age as Luig. So I emailed to find more info on him. And filled out hte application! They already checked my references and talked with my vet!. Well they called me, but I didn't hear my phone ring. We were at the new house painting. But she left a message ( the foster mommie) and said that she would love to meet me. I am soo happy! And possibly set up a home visit. I know Luigi will love a brother and play mate and hopefully help his seperation anxiety. But here is my dilemma-I am really nervous doing this now, when in a month we will be moving into our new house. (not far from where we are now) My hubby thinks its bad timing. Which I agree, but I would deal with it! I think I do better under stress!! He thinks we should not even do a home visit cuz he knows I will fall in love with him immediatey! Actually- I think I already am in love with him!!! Do you think I should wait till things settle down with the move before getting a playmate for Luigi, or go ahead with it? He is sooo darn cute!!!! My hubby thinks I always do things before I really think about it. |
Maybe the foster mom can keep him till you can move in the new house. Tell her your situation and ask her what she thinks will be best for the dog, since she knows him best. Sound like a great thing for you all and Luigi. |

See if the foster mom can keep the little guy til you are moved. If not them make sure that he gets acustomed to both houses, take him with when you go to the new one. Might also help your little guy stay a little less stressed through the move having a playmate. |

About how long will it be until you move into your new house?? I dont think that she would have that much of a problem hanging onto him for a little while. I used to foster dogs and when i found a family that I really liked I would have done it for them. Good luck with this little guy. So happy that you are looking into taking a rescue. I hope everything works out. Keep us posted on what you find out. |
Let us know :) |
What all do you have to do? I was always curious about this-what all do you have to do to get a rescue dog? I read your post, so I know up to you have to have a home visit, but what are they looking for-do you have to have a fenced in backyard? Do you have to live in the country? |
I am soooo excited!!! I just got off the phone with his foster mommie!! We were on the phone for about 45 min to an hour!!! I asked all kinds of questions and she asked me tons too! The rescue is from an elderly woman who wanted a lap dog. And she was upset that he was a puppy and wanted to play and thats not why she got the dog! All she wanted was a dog who would sit on her lap all the time. Well what did she think- he is a puppy. If she wanted a lap dog, she should have gotten an older one! So she gave him to the shelter to care for. Poor little guy!!! So we are going to set up a home visit in the next week or 2!!! Yea!! I am soo excited!!! And as for the whole moving thing- she said he had been with another foster mom too and the shelter and her house, and he has adapted very well!!! Not scared or anything!!! Kelley- As for the rescue thing- all I did was email the shelter he was at. They gave me an adoption application and went from there. They do know that I don't have a fenced in yard, but that was ok since he is already trained to be on the leash! So I guess it all depends. The best thing to do is email them and find out and go from there. If its meant to be- it will happen, if not, then they will tell you. They do chaeck all references and chack with your vet, and also have a home visit. So that is all I know- I will let you know more as I know more!!!!! |
You and that little guy are going to be an inseparable pair. What great good luck to find him at any time and for whatever reason, NOW is the right time. If it is meant to be, it will be a match made in heaven.. |
That is soooo great! You and he are very lucky to have found each other. I can't hardly look at those rescue sites, because I want them all! And, I wouldn't hesitate to take him now, he will be fine wherever he is, as long as there's love and caring for him, which I know you have covered! So, good luck! |
