Abbey Lee is getting spayed tomorrow.
 

Miss Lee just turned 7 months old and she is weighing in at 4.2 pounds. I am moving in with my sister in 2 weeks and she has an un-nuetered male that is all about Abbey so I figured it's time for her spay!

While I k now this is pretty routine surgery I'm just asking that you all keep Abbey in your thoughts and prayers and hope for a safe surgery and a quick recovery.

I have already gotten some onesies for her. They fit perfectly but she seems really agitated when they are on. Like she frantically runs around and tries to get them off. So I don't know if I will make her wear them or not bc I want her to be relaxed. But other than this does anyone else have any reccomendations for when I bring her home?

I'm gonna ask my vet a TON of questions but might as well ask here too bc I swear sometimes YTers have better advice...

When will it be OK for her to eat and drink again?

Will she be using the bathroom on her same schedule or do you think it will be different?

Do you think it is necessary for me to get up every couple hours or so to check on her during the night?

I'm having it done on a Friday so I can be home with her all weekend, but when do you think it will be OK the leave her alone again?

I'm sure I'll think of more. I'm so worried!

I will keep Abbey Lee in my prayers for a safe spay. The vet will give you info on when do feed her and give her water. Usually the first night they don't want much and will sleep alot. I know when I get Roxie spayed next month I won't sleep much they first night checking up on her. As for the onseie's when I had Cali spayed she wasn't use to wearig clothes but when I put the onsie on she was fine. I think it felt soft and protected her stitches. She should go back to her potty schedule pretty quickly. You may ask your vet for pain meds in case she needs them for a day or two. A lot of vets give them a shot for pain before they go home and it lasts for 24 hours. I think she will be ok to leave on Monday as long as she is leaving her stitches alone. Good information.

Sandy was just spayed. My vet did not send home any pain meds.. and that was a mistake for Sandy. I ended up taking her into the emergency vet.. and he sent her home with 2 different ones.
The onsie's were perfect to put on Sandy. They did not allow her to lick her stitches. They were also very soft so she did not snag her stitches on anything, either. When I took her out to potty, I just unsnapped them and rolled them under so she would not soil them. That way, I did not have to stress her with taking them on and off all the time.
She did not really drink or eat much until the following day. It has been 6 days and you wouldn't know she had anything done. I still keep her from jumping onto or off from things.. so she doesn't injure herself.

Bella really didnt change much. She slept that day and didnt play as hard the next day but she really didnt miss a beat with food/potty routines.
The onsie was too much so i just used a long tshirt. she never even noticed her incision. I was just afraid she would get it dirty
