new member and traveling to Colorado from TX Hi there! I've been reading all the posts of traveling with the babies. I am finally getting good info. We are taking Zuzu and Oliver to Breckenridge by car in late Aug. Oliver does so much better in his car seat since it is elevated and he can see out. The car seats can also be strollers. We are staying in a large home that is pet friendly, but on day trips I am wondering about how dog friendly restaurants will be. (Breck, Aspen, Vail, Salida, Steamboat, Estes Park) In other words, has anyone had experiences where you can sit on a patio with the yorkies on a leash? Should I put them in their inflatable huge kennel when we go out to eat at night, since they have such a large space to roam or just put up a doggie gate in one of the tiled rooms? Thanks you all!!!! |
Welcome to YT. If nobody here knows, maybe the owner of the home you'll be staying in would know which restaurants allow dogs? Just a thought. As for the crate or gating them in a room, whichever you and they will be more comfortable. I have to crate Gus when I leave him places other than home because he acts out...jumps gates, scratches doors. In the crate he sleeps and I know he's safe. Enjoy your trip. :) |
:wavey: Welcome to YT!! My experience has been that dogs are usually allowed on patios. But the stroller might be handy while sitting on the patio too. I would put up a gate to confine them while you are out. I just returned from a vacation in a large home in the Black Hills and certainly did not want my 2 running around the house when I couldn't keep my eyes on them |
I was turned away in Aspen for wanting to sit on the patio with my Yorkie. I don't think you'll have much luck. Legally they cannot allow it and don't want to risk it. The way some get away with it is if the dog is on the other side of the rail. You won't be able to keep your Yorkies from coming in between the rails. However, you might be able to get away with it if you plan to keep them in the stroller on the other side of the bars. That's your best bet. |
Hello there and Welcome to YT .....;) |
perhaps you can call the Chamber of Commerce and ask them about doggy friendly places or search the web - that's what I have done in the past |
