Is pedrigree a good company?
 
My dogs love the pedigree dental chews but I want to make sure they are a good company to buy from before buying more. I read all the articles and charges against the Iams company so I want to make sure my money only goes to companies that dont do any bad animal testing. Does anyone know where to search for that sort of info? What about purina?

I don't know if this will help, but you can try to look at the ingredients on Pedigree dental chews or their food

and look at this website. I don't know her very well but I do know that she is very educated. She has done tons and tons of research on dog food, i hope this website helps.

I am referrign more to the way they conduct business. IAMS has been known to do really horrible animal testings. So I will not purchase any product from them. I want to make sure Pedigree does not do anythign like that either. I dont purchase pedigree for dog food because I know they dont compare nutrionally to several of the others. But they do make a dental chew that my dogs actual LOVE. And its not a raw hide so I dont mind them eating is so much.

But I apprectiate your articles xtine. That will definelty be helpful to me as I am looking to try a different food since my dogs are sick of nutro.

I'm not too sure about how they conduct their animal testing. So I don't think I'm too much help. But if that's the only chew treats your Dogs like and the ingredients your fine with, it should be Okay.

I also do not support the harmful studies that Iams/Eukanuba do on their pets. :thumbdown

Pedigree and Royal Canin for that matter are Subsidiaries of Mars Corporation, and yes they do animal testing akin to IAMS. It is not really the way the pet food is being tested that is a problem it is the fact that these corporations have huge huge vivesection labs in which all their products are tested. Once we found out of this Bruce immediately switched to Innova (meaning I immediately began integrating it) to get him of the RC.

Pet foods to avoid if you care about animal testing:

Proctor & Gamble Foods: Iams, Eukanuba & Nutro.

Nestle: Bounce, Cesar, Chappie, Frolic, James Wellbeloved, Katkins, Kitekat, Pal, Pedigree Chum, Royal Canin, Sheba, Techni-cal & Whiskas.

Colgate/Palmolive: Science Diet.

Foods that are really much better than these and have taken the No animal testing/cruelty free pledge are Solid Gold, Innova, Natural Balance.

That is great info! We feed our Chicken Soup for the Per Lover's Soul which is a "hollistic" food, but when I asked the vet about it (not our regular vet, it was when we took Maya in during the weekend because we are paranoid) she said that she recommends a dog food that is actually approved and tested on a dog as far as "approved by the *** when a dog was on this food for a period of 6 weeks they noticed this, this, this, and this" whereas the hollistic food companies arent large enough to invest in Research and Development and only assume that "this, this, this, and this" will happen because the ingredients are comparable. Sorry if that doesnt make sense, I dont neccesarily agree because I love the ingredients of Chicken Soup, Innova etc. My dogs LOVE the chicken soup, so it "it aint broke dont fix it."
