is this true!?! i was reading that you shouldnt brush Yorkies when they have a dry coat..is this true?? it said always to use a detangler or some sort of liquid/wet substance....i usually have brushed my yorkie dry except sometimes with detangler..what do you guys do??? |
I just got Ice on Ice which so many recommend. You spray it on before brushing. It works great and helps the hair from breaking off. |
ok thanks! |
I bought this Ionic Pet Brush from Sharper Image. It's great! I brush Archie with it every night and he loves it and it cleans him, too. He smells like air. Archie has a pretty good coat, but I use Pantene conditioner on him. I don't think that brushing his hair when dry is necessarily bad because if you keep bathing your dog, it will dry up his natural oils. |
my only knowledge about brushing the hair when it is dry is that it could break the hair. I use Ice on Ice and sometimes I use Glo Coat (I don't overuse it because it could damage the hair later on due to Silicone). The only brush I use is the Pin Brush for the body and the Slicker Brush for the Legs. Of course I bought them from www.chrissystems.com |
My groomer told me that if I'm not planning on showing Oscar then it is okay to dry brush him. I actually find it easier to brush him without any detangler/conditioner in his hair, and I don't really notice any breakage. :) |

I brush mine either way - I do use Ice on Ice almost everyday but sometimes get lazy and just give them a quick brush just to keep from paying for it later.... |
