As I am a trainer here are my thoughts. Fired THe trainer now. Any time you feel a trainer is endangering your dog you are right and have the right to tell them NO ! and you know I rarely use NO!. Most of Petco " Trainers" are just in the learning stage and there be not a chance I let them near my dog. There is never any reason to touch a dog push or shove to train. There are tons of other ways to get a dog working without using food. Never if a dog is concerned about another dog is there ever a chance they will get over it. Social skills are much needed but getting over it not soical skills. Fire the trainer now... If you let me know where you are I can TRY and find a postive based trainer...... Just send me a PM and I get back to you on if I can find you someone. JL |
I certainly wouldn't go back. Surely she realised exposing Pebbles to bullies (The great big dogs) could traumatise her. She won't learn to sit there either there's far too much going on. Do practice at home love. Katie is very wary of big dogs as one rolled her over in the park when she was smaller. Suzi on the other hand, is not frightened of dogs big or small yet and I hope she never will be. Mine are socialised in the park where I can supervise whether or not the bigger dogs get near them now. Find another trainer if you can love, and go and see for yourself before you take Pebbles.
