Mom wants Yorkie My Mom would love to have a Yorkie. She about a had a fit when I got mind since she's wanted one for so long. Only thing is she's in her 70's and doesn't move around all that fast anymore. I think she needs a Yorkie that's past potty and puppy training stage. I have tried to talk her out of it and my Step Dad (even though he'd fall in love with a Yorkie and he knows it) has too. She wants one so bad does anyone have any thoughts on this? :confused: |
I would suggest getting her an older dog. There are a couple posted in the rescue section on here that might be perfect for her! |

I don't know how far you live from your mom, but could you allow visitations with you baby. Maybe a few hours a week you drop your baby off and let them keep her/him. Then if it works out then get her one. J |
If you help her get an older dog that would be great but keep in mind that if something happens to your mother and stepfather you will be responsible for it. Good luck, I hope you find the perfect match. You will be making your mother happy and giving a little one a good home. |
I live in the same town. Mom comes over to my house and I take Roxie over there. Roxie gets extremely excited when we go over plus Mom has a Scottishfold cat. When Roxie gets excited she sprinkles on the floor. This is why I question if Mom needs a puppy or not. She has all new hard wood floors and carpet not so new but she tries to keep it nice, and I always feel bad if Roxie sprinkles on it. She worries if Roxie will leave a present someplace in the house so I always watch closely and scan the house before I leave. It's really kind of stressful taking her over there and makes me think to myself, "she wants a dog?". Not sure even an older one is for her. Hoping her desire for one passes. But if not I would help in finding just the right one for her and keep a close eye on how it goes. She is good with Roxie and all but....not sure she needs one of her own. |
I think if it were me and you do decide to find her a furfriend, I'd pick one that you wouldnt mind having too because she may get it and realize she doesnt want it for whatever reason (peeing on the floor, pawprints on the carpet, etc) and you may end up with him/her. So I would maybe take your puppy with you to make sure these two get along well in case you end up with it. |
We got Maggie from Rescue Me Yorkie Rescue and are very happy with her and the way the adoption process was handled. I agree that there are plenty of beautiful babies out there that are in desperate need of a new forever home! |
HAHA the more reason you need to leave her there. And when you come and pick her up let your mom know that she used the bathroom on her nice floors and she needed to take her outside. But don't clean it up allow her to do this. Tell her if she can handle your yorkie for a short period of time then you guys will look for one. After 3 visits I'm sure your mom will change her mind :) |

Or is this a way for you to get a second one for you :D Just kidding and it really is not a bad way to do it :cool: |
