Question about Jumping Yorkies Any advice for puppies that jump on people as they walk in the front door? |
Great question. I'll be looking for these tips as well. What I do now is to pick up Ziigy and then answer the door. |

Good question ...... well mine sits on her sofa or in her crate and waits for us to come in and call her to say 'hello' .... we usually have our hands full of stuff when we come in and have to put it down .... I don't really know what to say ..... ours just waits to be called ..... |
go lay down i've gotten my chewie to go to his bed when the doorbell rings. i still haven't figured out how to keep him from barking, but at least he's not jumping on people |
We do the "sit stay" command also. One of our past yorkies had a problem with "Sparkling" all over the shoes of the guests so we had to tone down his excitement. |

Ask your visitors not to look at, touch, or toalk to the dogs until they are calm. It might take a while but they will eventually learn that jomping does not get them any attention. It is hard for you to correct the dog when someone is making a fuss over them. |
