I had someone (not from yt) direct me to pixiepups website after I told them that there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie, when they asked about baby. They took one look at my little Lyric and said "oh he's not a teacup, he looks more like a toy" Pictures of Lyric 1. 9 weeks first day at home 2. 20 weeks |
This is what we need to see shut dowm in the US! The HSUS is trying but as long as people buy it is hard. Poor puppies. |

Lyric is only 5 months in that picture? What a gorgeous coat he has, simply beautiful. Teacup is just a name some people use meaning very small dog. I don't mind when regular people use it, but breeders shouldn't be using it, that's why we warn people to beware of a breeder using it. They don't know what they are talking about. Toy is the smallest group of dogs. Teacup is more of a nickname and some people think that their 9 pound Yorkie is an "authentic teacup." That site you linked is in Phoenix, I've never heard of the place, I don't think the dogs shown are very good representation of their breeds, but you can pretty much put anything on the Internet. Places like Yorkietalk help educate people on what to look out for. Here is their answer to What is a Teacup?. "Teacup refers to a dog's size. There is no official definition but the general consensus is that a teacup dog is one that will be no more than 5 lbs. as an adult." Frequently Asked Questions Also "We get our puppies from small private USDA licensed breeders. The USDA regularly performs surprise inspections of these breeders to insure that the puppies are raised in a clean, healthy environment." |
I took that picture last week on the day that he turned 5 months. Thanks for the comment on his coat:D He owns more hair products than I do. I will pass that information on to the person who mentioned the teacup thing. I guess I got a bit annoyed because they were trying to convince me that on there registry papers it says teacup on there, and the dog wont be more than 1lb as an adult:confused: and it's still a puppy:rolleyes: Quote:

I don't think it's because anyone supports puppy mills, it's because they are not educated in puppy mills, backyard breeders or pet stores...I know, because when I got my first yorkie (bought her from my mother-in-law) she was from a pet store in Florida with a birth certificate from Missouri !!! I was pet mill dumb !!!!! I had no idea, none, nada and thought that is where you bought them !!! Now, I know !!! I'm sure (I know) I'm not alone, so that is why we have to speak and educate people about these cruel beginnings for dogs and cats and horses , etc.. Anyway we can ! I think now, I have passed the word around at least once a day and now have 2 more yorkies and will one day rescue more.....:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa |
