Not sure how to fix this???? Since we rescued Chance back in June he has been peeing and pooping on the cement. I keep picking him up and placing him on the grass but he goes right back and does his business on the patio.:( Every once in awhile he will go and lift his leg along the fence but has NEVER pooped on it. I am under the belief that the breeder he was taken from did have grass in her yard but he was kept in a kennel for over 5 weeks and they were all peeing and pooping in their cement kennel!:thumbdown They had NO grass! So I am wondering if anyone know's of a way for me to break this or is that it for Chance...............he will just be taking care of his business on cement? I also have noticed that now every once in awhile Blaze has started doing his business on the patio as well! I know its just because he sees and smells Chance doing it! Any help or info would be greatly appreciated! |
hmmmm... that's a toughie! what about one of those pee posts. Apparently they have some sort of smell on them that makes dogs want to pee on it. Then if he starts to pee on the post... BIG PARTY and then maybe he'll make the connection to poop on the grass/post as well? are you able to pick him up mid poop and move him to the grass and then reward him right away? |
why don't you put him on a leash and take him over to the grass. he'll eventually have to go on the grass if he can't get to the cement. you just have to hold out longer then he does. |

It may be something you have to live with or with alittle help he might learn to go in the grass. Our rescue "Roo" just goes on the cement. I truly believe it's from living in a box. He spent most of his life that way and I guess it's something I'm not going to worry about because now he can live the way he was supposed to. He's happy and for me that's all that counts.:animal-pa |

:thumbup:Your right - I shouldn't lose sleep over it! I would just rather he take care of his business on the grass but I am happier knowing that he now has a great life and will never live in a cage just used to mate!!!! |
