omg, this is a tough one.... My Suzi has stood up before looking up at the gate, however, never has tried to jump over it. She can jump on beds and couches no problem. Suzi is about 6lbs. :aimeeyork

My thoughts exactly...I bought the highest gate they had at petsmart and she jumped it!! She could really get hurt. I am taking that one back. Today we used our old one (leaving out the garage door) and she did not jump! Yay! :)

LOL Sounds like Zoe :)- she is the same weight and has climbed out of her expen, managed to crawl under the couch fromthe living to the dining rooms and now tries to climb the baby gate- I have to keep an eye on her she is soo fast- they are tiny but very persistent and smart!

I have jumpers as well, real moutain goats:eek:, so when we leave they go inside their crates and this way I'm sure nothing happens to them while we are away. They don't always like that but what can I say, it's a dog's life;)

I have one too

I had to double the gate...meaning one on top of the other so it is about 4 ft tall.....worse thing about this jumping is.....it could wreck her patellas......they luxate by injury I have been told.

Be careful:eek:

Jumper??

I know what you mean!! For her size, 8" at the shoulder, Kasey can jump higher than any puppy I've ever seen. We put up a 16" board across the doorway when we first got her home. Took her about 5 minutes for her to hook her front feet on the top and pull herself on over. She has now mastered stairs, the camper, lawn chairs, even the picnic table. The picnic table was a trip to the vet to get checked out. She climbs well, her dismount and landings need work.
We have the child gates now, but I believe it is just a matter of time before she clears them.

I always double gate and none of mine have been able to "scale the wall" lol since :)

Jumping yorkie

I have a six months old morkie and Boy is he a jumper...? I have try so many gates and he is still able to jump over it. He can either walk thru, climb thru or jump over. The best solution is to put two gate one after another and double it. Hopefully that works.:p

Puppy jumping the gate

Our 1-1/2 yr old yorkies jumped the single plastic gate so we put another on top and they chewed thru the lower part and greeted us at the front door. Only gone about 2 hrs. We use a crate now.:)

I had a problem with a gate jumper. I finally bought the Dream Baby extra tall gate...it is about 36" high. Doubt any yorkie could get over that. None of mine have.

On a side note: my neighbors have a boxer who jumps their 6.5 foot fence!! It is rather amazing to see. :D

I just looked and the height is actually 39.4" ... Many stores carry Dream Baby....they are the best gates imo. Here is a link to Toys R Us ....

Well our garage door was recently broken for about 5 days so we had to leave out the front door...meaning we leave from the gate side of the laundry room. This, I believe, is what has prompted Roxy to jump over the gate...starting yesterday. This was with a 24" baby type gate that she could get her feet up in. So I went and bought a metal gate that is 30" tall and only has vertical bars...she still jumped over!!!! I don't want her to hurt herself when jumping, plus I don't trust her loose in the house yet. Hopefully now that our garage door is fixed, she won't want to jump over the gate to see where we are...but has anyone else had a similar problem? How did you fix it?

Yes us to our laundry room is in the house and I acutally thought I had forgot to put him in there, so the next day I put him in there again....and he was out so yes he jumped...now I just use the door to the laundry room to keep him in there, ps he was 11 weeks when he did this.

When he was to small and could walk through the bars, we added another gate, you can see that didn't work either. We gave up and removed the gates. He goes into an x pen with a metal top zipped tied to it when we are gone for long periods:)

I just gave up with Dora. She climbs out of her expen with such ease, that I know a taller one wouldn't stop her. I just let her roam free with Missy. All they do is sleep when I'm away anyways. When I'm home, I'll find the odd pee that isn't on the pad, but no big deal...I just clean it up. It's better than having to deal with a broken leg, or worse. Missy never pulled those stunts, only Dora is the climber/jumper. Hard to believe they are sisters. :p
