OH NO...The Groomer completely shaved my baby!!! Oh my goodness!!! I took my puppy for her first groom today and when I picked her up she was BALD!!!! When I dropped her off I told them just wash, brush, and clip her nails and maybe a cute bow, right?? I was in shock to see her shaved except for her head. She looks pitiful. She is only 3 months and weighs about 2.5 lbs. The groomer said she was knotted underneath and to comb through it would have broke blood capalarers(sp). To make things even worse, my puppy was completely stressed and the groomer shamed me for "babying" her. It was a horrible experience and too much to go into detail. However, my question is .... How long will it take for the fur to grow back. Also, before the shave she was light brown with a black stripe down her back. Now she is white with a hint of black. Will her color change? What color will she be. Does puppy fur grow fast? Did this change the texture? One more thing, I need pupppy clothes. I looked around today and found XS t-shirt but it was too big on her and she kept getting her hind leg caught. I'm worried she is going to freeze at my home because we like to keep the house very cool and she is very sensitive to temp changes. |
I have had an experience like this before. I personally do not agree with the groomer trying to tell you how to treat your furkid. I guess when it happened to me, I felt completely helpless and I felt as though I was being ignored even though I had dished out plenty of money to have a service done MY WAY. You should definitely talk to the manager just so they know the groomer had complete disregard for your wishes. The hair will grow back in no time. You'll see. Some yorkies do change colors. My Holly was really dark when she was a baby. Now she is completely silver and gold (blue and gold is what they call it). So sorry to hear about your experience. Hope all goes well. P.S Someone on here is sure to help you with your clothing issue. There are spectacular vendors on here. I personally love Go Fetch. |
Oh, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. This happens to a lot of people because puppies often mat worse than older dogs. As the hair grows its important to follow up brushing with a comb close to the skin to make sure all tangles are out. Have you looked at you local Target or Walmart for clothes; they have some really great prices. I think a little t-shirt might be good because they do get cold easily, and both stores carry xxtra-small. Hair won't change in color or texture; just because it's shaved, it will look different because the root color is often different than the tip of the hair. If she's prone to matting you might want to get some Cowboy Magic Detangler, it really helps with taking out mats. Some people have found after getting their puppies shaved they liked the look, so try and keep an open mind, and I'm sure she still looks adorable. |
Don't feel bad...I went through the same thing last week!! Lily will be 18 weeks old tomorrow...I felt horrible for her having to be cut like that and I had brushed and brushed her but she was matted close to the skin too they said. She is going to be alot lighter in color than she was too I think?? She looks like a lion!! I got "Cowboy Magic" and I will do my best to NEVER let her get matted again!! They said that "she is very spoiled and that I need to MAKE her stand on a table and get brushed etc. so she will be ready for the groomer next time!! Oh well....I am over it now!! She is cute as ever it's just hair and it will grow back!! She is spoiled rotten and she is a big baby.....she screams when you try to brush her or ANYTHING!! She is doing real good going "potty outside" most of the time now and she eats real good!!lol If I can just get her to "COME" when I try to catch her or call her that will be great for me!! I don't expect much from her!! We just love her!! She is a puppy!! Don't be too hard on yourself....must be something they go through?? I hope so anyhow!! |
