Mia still weary about using her back leg... Greetings Yorkie Talk, So, Mia is still acting weary about using her back leg, despite the fact that the vet did not see anything wrong on her X-rays.(however this is Petsmart we are talking about) She is still holding her leg up and still limping at times... The last time she limped pretty bad was after she had been laying on it for a while. Could someone give me some peace of mind? Could this have just been a sprain and she is scared to use her leg? Or is something really wrong? Let me know if you've had this same problem with your babies!! Any ideas:confused: Thanks everyone! |
First of all - welcome to YT. I'm sorry I missed your original post. How long has this been going on now. Three weeks? Is she refusing to put any weight on it at all? Does she walk normally sometimes? Have you inspected her paws (pads) carefully? I think I'd either go back to the vet and insist on another X-ray or find another vet for a second opinion. An eight month old puppy does not limp unless it is in pain. Something is wrong and I strongly suspect knee problems. |
I wouldent worry to much spanky had jumped off the couch and we had to go get x ray for Bk leg the X rays showed nothing. But ER VET wrapped it anyway, MY own Vet said it was fine as well as my mother who use to be a vet after looking at the xray, that was a year ago and to this day every once in awile if he has been running hard he will favor that same leg we even had re Xrayed to make sure he was ok and he is. were just carfull he dosent jump off high places any more. Hope this helps. Hugs Michelle |
Thanks for replying! Lou: Yes it has been about 3 wks now. She does put weight on it and walked pretty normal 92% of the time. She still runs and plays with the other dog. I have not inspected her paws thoroughly though... Overall SHE doesnt seem like she is bothered by it, but I notice a change in how she uses it from time to time throughout these weeks. Like when she pees, she holds that foot up in the air now... But when I picked her up from the vet after her x-rays the vet came out and said "she has perfect knees" :( But,I think I will go ahead and take her to another vet just to be certain. Spanky's mom: Im glad spanky is doing well. I am praying this is nothing major as well and will just be something that I will just have to be careful about in the furture... |
I hope she is ok.:) |
